Enjoyed seeing a couple of surprises, like Andrew Garfield and Kristen Stewart, get the love they deserve, but very disappointed that ''Belfast'' was shut out, and ''West Side Story'' nearly so. Overall, I wish Gold Derby voters made more daring choices, instead of mostly name-checking the front-runners.

Oscar nominees King Richard, Aunjanue Ellis, Denzel Washington were all snubbed. Will Smith only #3? Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem were shut out. Gold Derby needs lots more representation.

For the most part, it feels like the winners tend to reflect who is leading the odds. I sort of wish there was more of a smorgasbord of surprises. I think people vote for what they are predicting to win rather than predicting their favorites.

When is Johnny Greenwood gonna get some His score for POTD makes the film and he's done such great work over the years. Zimmer again? Yawn. Sad to see West Side Story didn't resonate more. It was the best piece of pure cinema in years. As for Dune- I kind of don't get it.
