CDI Episode 29: Disney Plug & Play TV Game

This is a video review for the Disney plug & play TV game from Jakks Pacific released in 2004 (I think?).

My capture software didn't seem to like this game to much. You'll notice a bunch of graphical glitches, these do normally NOT appear in the game.

Also there is no opening illustration this time unfortunatly. Theo is a bit sick at the moment, and I didn't want to delay it any longer since it's already been a while since the last one.

Man I remember the Aladdin struggle to jump across the moving platforms and then having to restart when you fail it was so hard

as Plug and Play games are not sold everywhere and may be hard to find on eBay for decent prices, and to make things worse - emulation is nearly impossible because of different hardware inside of every one of them - your reviews are priceless! Thank you very much once again.

ugh...the struggle on the Aladdin game is real. I remember raging as a child to it...xD

This piece of crap was my childhood. Loved and hated it.

Thanks again for your kind comment once again :).

Totally right, these things you pretty much never see emulated. To play them, you really need to find the device itself. They tend to be fairly cheap over here, as people often throw them out as trash-like object once the kids decided to move on to more important things. Hunting down one particular one though, can be quite a pain!

The Stitch launch attack is like the rocket charge from the Rocket Knight Adventure games.

I actually own this plug and play.  I loved it when I was really young, but honestly, I'm not sure how much I would like it now (seeing I'm 15 years old).

I remember I was the only one of my sisters to make it to level 2 of the palace in the Aladdin game.

I had this when I was a kid! It took me forever to beat the Aladdin one. Once, I did it became pretty easy to beat over and over again.

Haha, yeah I was going for a bit of stupidity there. I actually planned to use Chip for a quick shot there, but I never got to filming it :(

Thanks man, I'll see if I can sometime do something like that just for kicks. Those are pretty much well covered so I'm not sure if I can make something interesting out of them, but I'll see what I can come up with!

I've actually got an idea to have some fun with crappy rip offs which I want to try out soon.

the animations feature a lot of frames - seems almost like a 16 bit system this handheld/tabletop.

Cool review!

I never even knew there was a Master System version of Aladdin. I just checked it out and it actually looks pretty cool. Way better then the NES version which is basicly an 8 bit version of the one on the Genesis/Mega Drive.

Hah, loaf of bread as a lifebar! Thats just so... abstract that its awesome!

I sort of recognize the playmechanics in the Stitch-game, but I gotta say, even if there's one or two games with the same idea, it seems pretty damn creative for a plug and play game! Even though a timelimit of an hour for 5 stages might be a tad redundant ;)
