I (from Poland) sometimes joke that German words sound like the name of a weapon, plane, tank, or a declaration of war, such as my favorite Schmetterling, i.e. butterfly, which to me sounds like a plane, preferably a war plane.

As a Swede learning German, its easy. The german language has so many words that is close to Swedish

German is very elegant and sensual when spoken properly and not trying to imitate latin languages slurring half if the words.Same with french, our language vocabulary come from vulgar latin(although we are the least similar to it)but our initial rythmic is germanic, and we still have an heritage from it such as the way we pronounce the letter s in some words.
