I actually like solar heating. Once it’s installed properly it’s an excellent way to heat your pool in the warm months. In winter you need a heat pump but if you’re trying to save money solars the way to go.

Depends on allot of things honestly. Solar heating pools is not some green thing anymore - heating pools via other methods including heat pump all use a sobering amount of fuel/electricity. Thus costly. To truly heat a pool on solar it takes allot of solar.

Likely still worth having even on your roof and paying for maintenance if not doing yourself. If the new owners treat it passive they will have problems.

Lastly IMO - Pool owners tend to have at least one person who is full of the energy to maintain a pool and everything that goes with it. Buyers of homes with pool need to be realistic of what a pool means. It usually means that some family members it is all fun - and others in the family enjoy providing the effort for the fun.

1st it has to be properly installed and it actually protect your roof. My buddy has one works great. In Canada 🇨🇦 too.

I 100% disagree.. Like anything it needs maintenance. Spray painting something black is like the least amount if work possible. It all depends on if you swim alot and like warm pools. I don't see holes in the roof, i see mounts properly sealed. You can replace seals pretty easy so i dont seen this as much of a concern. Any more then direct TV dish. Now if your lazy and never plan to get off your ass to maintain your home, then yes its a bad idea...but then again so is anything that requires to be maintaned hell he should not even have the pool, god forbid you gotta remove a leaf or clean a filter. for these folks i recommend RENTING!!! 😂

I agree 100%.
I actually used solar for pool heating (not on the roof though) and two overcast days…say goodbye to hot water.

Just use an solar vacuum heater if you want to heat with solar

To me it looks like whoever installed it did not know what they was doing. I'm sorry you went through that. But if it's done right when nothing bothers it, it doesn't leak. It doesn't do nothing other than what it's supposed to do.

I'm removing all my solar pool mat on my roof areas and thinking of going heat pump.

Also, in hurricane states, those things will bang the crap out of the shingles

My opinion is raise it off the roof and you should be educated on RV and camping life to overcome this obsticle. No, it was not done right and there is a way. Research leads to wisdom, so does trial and error, so does asking a question like you did.

Swim in coldwater then. Otherwise rubber paint the pipes and lift them.

Solar heating is fine, but not on the roof. Build a rack in the yard if you can.
