I used to be addicted to video games, RPGs specifically, the ones where you spend a bunch of time to build your character up. How I did it was shifted that focus and built my character in real life ME, looking at numbers in my bank account/ investment accounts grow became my new addiction, the bigger it gets the more I level up.

One thing you have to do is ask yourself: “what truly makes me happy?”. Not what everyone else thinks will make you happy. When you find what makes you happy, then you start the journey. A cruise in the Caribbean is great for some, but it just doesn’t make me happy. I have friends in the medical field and they all drive expensive cars and take trips and are in debt out to their eyeballs. They feel entitled to luxury since they work such long hours.

Dave is right to stop you. Be careful of the words that come out of your mouth. If you want to change your life, you have to change your believes and what you say about yourself. Stop thinking and speaking out your past. I have been where you are, and I completely cut off everyone from my past because I an not that person. I AM who I am in Christ Jesus. I AM blessed.. prosperous... successful... victorious... wise... healthy.... happy.... positive.. strong.. confident.. secure....free.. redeemed... generous.... empowered. I am well able. I am a child of the Most High God.

I feel this girl. My parents are the reasons both my older brothers are drug addicts. Parents was so far in debt that they would sell my brothers their scripts. And now they are addicted to every pain killer there is. And movee on to other drugs.. parents didnt want me i was a "mistake" they said so my grandma raised me. Now i thank god my grandma did. It hurt as a child but now in thankful for it. I help my brothers when i can but i am 27 and havent talked to my mom in 12 years

Changing a mindset requires more than just one call. It requires you to get a mentor, copy things that make other people successful, forget about everything you know (which is wrong), read books about what you want to learn, watch videos, educate yourself. Once you acquire the knowledge and are sure that’s the path you wanna take…. Push yourself every day to get it nonstop. Quitting is not an option!

They gave her excellent advice. I would also add that a wealth building mindset is a long-term view and approach. My wife and I are not building wealth for us. We are building it for our kids and grandkids.

When debt free, saving/investing, and living within means wealth building follows automatically for me.
Had to walk away from toxic friends and seek my type of people with similar interests.
My addiction is green tea.

I find that people who grow up financially insecure have a tendency to waste money they get the instant they get it because in their mind it was going to disappear anyway and they need to spend it/enjoy something as quick as possible, partly because that can be an escape, but also because they just don’t think there’s a way to keep the money around so it must be spent
