I've got an Intel-based laptop running Nobara working as a couch gaming system. I'm wondering how much better Clear Linux would work. All I need is Steam and RetroArch.

Nobara has a ton of optimizations suited for gaming, and it uses the iGPU as well as it can, but that can't possibly perform better than an OS designed for the hardware right?

I know Clear Linux is "optimized" for Intel CPUs, but what would happen and how would it run on an AMD Ryzen-based system? Would it install and run all the same? It sounds like an interesting project, but Mental Outlaw is right... if not that many binary packages are available and it basically forces you to compile what you want from source, then you might as well use something like Gentoo/Funtoo, or even just build your own Linux from Scratch. I want to do that when I can, because Clear Linux sorta sucks right now, even though I just said its premise is interesting, of which it is. Good video though. I respect people that don't like products, but can produce videos on them in an unbiased/neutral way.

Or you can use rEFInd as the default bootloader, it makes live 100x easier
