Ford Fiesta ST at the Nurburgring

Bill Caswell driving the Ford Fiesta ST on the Nurburgring. After taking it easy and waiting out some traffic, I started to have fun. But a few corners later I went in just a little too hot...

Answers to some obvious questions:

I turned off the radio before going out but I kept getting traffic warnings thru the navigation and it was driving me nuts till I finally just turned down the volume.

What happened at the end? I carried too much speed over the crest. I felt like was a little late turning in and at too much speed, and when I braked with the downhill, the car just slid as I asked too much of it. It was a really nice 4 wheel slide though and felt a lot like coming over a hill on an icy road and sliding off the crown on the way back down. And it felt way worse than it looks.

Why not show the whole lap? I took it easy and just followed some cars around the rest of the lap checking out parts of the track that I miss because Im normally focused on the line.

People commenting on driving style or speed should at least have one video on their YouTube channel on them driving. Something that demonstrates they have the knowledge and skill to effectively judge another driver. Martin Luther for example. He comments "Slow" but when you go to his channel there isn't one video of him driving one car. There isn't even a video of a car. So is he talking about the car, the driver, the track? Just interesting how people love to comment when they have no background in the topic they are commenting on.

The Fiesta ST is an unbelievable car....every single person on youtube who has ever test driven and reviewed the car always have the same expression when driving it, "hahahahaha!" It's amazing this car can do that to even car reviewers who have driven super cars.

I did the exact same thing in a Rent 4 Ring Swift, man that was a scary moment :D

I turned the radio off, or at least I thought I did. Then the German traffic warnings for road condition kept coming on and I didn't know how to turn it off! finally I just reached over and turned the volume all the way down. It would be cool if it as saying things like standing water at Flugplatz, careful. you are approaching Breidscheid bridge and will need to brake earlier due to conditions! :)

Some Bridgestone's. whatever they sell the Fiesta ST with in europe! (I have it written down and a picture of them somewhere) I couldnt believe how good they were!

I would be sliding sideways a little more but only on corner entry with an early balanced exit

yeah I know! I road raced out of chicago and dealt with a lot of wet tracks. The downhill is what caught me off guard as I wasnt able to correct my entry speed and yes I was in a bit early but thank god because if I had turned in late I would have had less room for the car to slide!!! Got lucky.

Recommend a lap? I'm going to the Nurburgring in my ST but am renting via RentRaceCar to see if the track is as intimidating as it appears first!!

Taking downhill corners too hot is fucking scary. I did the same once accidentally in the wet and my car's rear swept out really wide during braking.

I'm not totally sure and wasn't trying to push the top speed too much. We did hit 149MPH on the Autobahn...

I got a 2016 ST Fiesta siting in my garage with only 800 miles on it:) Shadow black with the ebony 17" wheel option she looks hot! It's a cool car to own very rare to see on the street I believe I am the only guy in my city who has one couple of Focus ST around here but so far I am the only FiST .Hopefully one day it will be sought after and collectable.
