Hailey Van Lith scored 20 points and dished out four assists and Olivia Cochran racked up an 11-point, 13-rebound double-double to lead Louisville women's basketball to a conference-opening win Sunday.

The Cardinals, winners of four straight, trounced Pittsburgh 77-53 to begin the Atlantic Coast Conference slate and improve to 9-4 on the season.

U of L shot 54.7% (29 of 53) from the field, the third-best number this season and connected on 7 of 12 3-pointers as the offense clicked from the start. Louisville shot 16 of 25 (64%) in the first half as it flew out to a 39-19 lead.

Outside of Van Lith and Cochran, no other Cardinal reached double figures, but four players scored eight or more — Liz Dixon, Morgan Jones, Merissah Russell and Josie Williams.

Pitt was led by Taisha Exanor with 12 points and three rebounds. Dayshanette Harris had 10 points and three rebounds. The Panthers were held to 33.9% shooting (20 of 59).

Since consecutive losses to No. 4 Ohio State and Middle Tennessee State after Thanksgiving, the Cards have won four straight by an average of 35.3 points. Van Lith is averaging 20.3 points during the streak.

The Cardinals have one more game Wednesday, a non-conference tilt at DePaul, which was 8-3 before a Sunday evening game, before taking a week off and resuming ACC play at home against Syracuse on Dec. 28.
