i literally just bought my first "pro" iphone from amazon renewed. I wanted the pro max but settled for the 14 pro and I'm upgrading from the 11. I wanted the pro max but the price difference was calling me.

Here was my reasoning on buying the 14 Pro Max in November 2024, just two weeks before the release (online unlocked) of the 16 Pro’s. I needed a 14 or higher as the satellite messaging in my part of the world (very rural) is a game changer. I upgraded from an 11 Pro Max. I researched the 15 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max a lot before deciding. I went with the 14PM in the end for three main reasons, they might not be yours. 1, I wanted the proven durability of the stainless steel, along with its superior heat shedding over the hot 15 pro line. 2, I didn’t want the AI, that stuff is not something I need on my phone. And 3, lightning charge port, yes, I’m the one guy. I have so many devices in the house already using this with several cables. I did not want to have to change it all or have one single device that was now an oddball. Sort of 4, I prefer the regular silent switch over the action button. I have not regretted my decision at all. Close second would’ve been the 15 Plus for its aluminum frame, traditional silent switch and decent camera for a non-pro model. I do not like the camera control button on the 16’s. Just my opinion.
