It takes every member to be successful but, without Steves vocals I'm not sure they would have been so very very huge.😊✌️👍

this is why I love Steve Perry, he is authentic, he is articulate, he is sensitive, he is grounded, he is quality, and he doesn't mince words; also, he makes mistakes just like any other bandmate, just like any other human, he also showed remorse for those mistakes; what was done toward him, that's not love, in his time of need, his bandmates showed their true colors, ultimately confirming his innermost thoughts of him never fully being embraced... yet he had kept the faith, he had kept pouring in, and pouring in, he kept baring his soul unlike any other, he kept busting his chops unlike any other, in devotion and loyalty to his fellow bandmates, and to their fan base, being pushed like a mule, not wanting to let any of them down (they say a divorce usually happens months or years before the actual divorce, painfully pushing through, despite his inner instincts) they said he was running things, yes, bc it happened that way organically, but never bc he was a tyrant, like they make him out to be; after all was said and done, I believe he had to walk away for his own integrity... kudos to Steve, for the level of humility it took (and stamina, and class) to keep pouring in, and working like mule, when there was no sense of camaraderie, he states no one was even "talking, " sharing, loving, caring, connecting; in order to come through, he did his duty, he was tough as nails, yet sensitive, simultaneously, when he, himself IS the working, viable instrument; how convenient to blame Steve for everything, when everyone else gets to lay down their instruments and let them rest, and/or even literally replace their instrument(s), physical instruments can get repaired and/or upgraded in an instant, roadie techs set up and fine tune the band members' instruments, having them ready for them on stage, no one can leave Steve's voice ready and on the stage for him to conveniently pick up and use; to Steve's critics, you try also, we have enough cold, cynical, insensitive people out in the world, Steve Perry is exactly what people were longing for, experiencing his distinctive voice of love AND joy, authenticity, quality, stress relief/chance to decompress; yes, together, they were an amazing band, we need each other despite our differences, but the multitudes were drawn to Mr. Perry's distinctive voice that pierced straight through to the heart, when his voice was touching the heavens; people were coming in droves, to experience the sheer sense of joy and love, authenticity and sensuality that was anchored in so many songs, but especially by the song Faithfully (thank you first and foremost, Jonathan Cain, and o.c. Neal Schon, Steve Smith, Ross Valory) no concert was complete without it... the question is, is what he did forgivable, and at least he tried to sincerely make amends, p.s. also, if anything, they should be grateful that Steve saved everyone so much money, he did not require extensive expensive instruments/equipment, he was not flashy, he kept things simple, he did not squander blessings, if anything, he saved everyone a ton of money AND a ton of time, in and out of studio/concerts/traveling, etc, in addition to protecting the integrity of the brand; there was absolutely nothing wrong with him taking a couple of years to grieve and heal after he didn't get adequate time to grieve and heal initially, and still toured... how shocking they didn't give him the same grace that he would have surely given them, had they been in similar circumstances; it takes humility and discipline and sacrifice to collaborate, and do what they did, I'm not saying they didn't get any enjoyment out of it, of course they did, anyway, it is understood they are all creative genuises, they all brought something valuable to the table, but in all fairness, in keeping perspective, he worked like mule, and deserved a couple years to heal and grieve, Steve Perry is worth every penny and so much more, a priceless treasure, they are all worthy, never shun love

I don't really care about all the drama, I just really like the music. And when I was young it was fun to watch Perry strut around on stage as he was very Dynamic and had a lot of charisma along with his voice you just don't see that but once in a lifetime as far as I'm concerned

Besides having the most iconic recognizable voice in rock music, Steve Perry had this other extraordinary gift. He was able to identify melodies that would would turn into hit songs. John Waite obviously blew it when he heard the opening to Open Arms. Steve heard it and immediately saw a hit song.

Neil was always jealous of Steve's talent and it so very evident on several of their concert DVDs!

Well, in retrospect I think Steve Perry was proven right in his sentiments that he didn't feel like he was really part of the band. I can understand his feelings there, and it would be even reinforced after the other band members made the decision to drop him and move on. In fact Neal, himself, stated that there was a band before Steve Perry. In Steve's mind, to some extent, he probably always felt like the new guy, even if he was instrumental in running things for a period of time.

Stop pounding down on Steve Perry. This documentary is focusing on Steve and trying to make him seem like the bad guy. Ugh. Steve Smith said that "Journey isn't a band without Steve Perry in it. " They should have changed their name when he left.

Their story is just very human, and it fits so well with their name Journey. Aren’t we humans on one big journey? Nobody is to be blamed. We all do stuff because we all have different reasons to do so. It’s a journey. I love these people and understand all of their point of views. Supertalented, gave pleasure to masses up till today, they literally rock!

I bet they never thought after all these years losing Steve Perry would end any new hits from the band.
