LYRICS
On a Greyhound bus Lord I'm travelin' this morning
I'm goin' to Shreveport and down to New Orleans
Been travlin' these highways and doin' things my way
It's been making me lonesome on'ry and mean.

God her hair was jet black and her name was Bodine
Thought she was the queen of the Basin Street Queens
She got tired of that smoky-wine dream
She began to feel lonesome on'ry and mean.

We came together and we cashed in our sweeps
Gave onto beggar who was mumblin' through the streets
Ain't no escaping from his snowy white dream
I was born living lonesome on'ry and mean.

Down in this valley where the wheels turn so low
At dawn I pray to the Lord of my soul
I pray dear Lord do right by me you know
I was born living lonesome on'ry and mean.
I was born living lonesome on'ry and mean.
On'ry and Mean....

I think he sounds great, just a touch of his grandpa, but has his own sound. That’s the way it’s suppose to be!

Love when the children and grandchildren honor their parent’s and grandparent’s memories by singing their songs the way they did.

Whey really does sound more like Waylon than anyone else I've heard. I love his voice, and I like this rendition of the song. "Lonesome, On'ry and Mean" has good bones, and Whey stays in mostly familiar territory without imitating his grandpa. Waylon would surely want Whey to grow into his own voice, literally and figuratively. I noticed the grit he's developed in those vocal chords. He can run with the big dogs. Let me throw some appreciation to the instrumentalists here, too. The guitarist has a Blues vibe that I think is great. Again, there's no attempt to imitate Waylon's guitar, but a picker this solid doesn't need to. The song rocks, with good Country soul. Thank God for sending us another voice this good, and help Whey make the most of it.

I love this voice. A touch of Waylon and that growl in his voice gives him a high mark in my book.
