Björn Skifs competed for Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song "Det blir alltid värre framåt natten" (It Always Gets Worse Towards the Night), written by Peter Himmelstrand. Skifs considered pulling off a coup by singing the song in English, knowing it could lead to disqualification. Before he started singing, he changed his mind at the last second (to his own surprise), resulting in him losing himself in the lyrics. He got back on track after singing a few nonsensical words. Lucky for him, only Swedes would notice the mistake. He finished 14th (out of 20).

Well, he was lucky it was not English, so people from other countries could not hear his mistake. What's the meaning difference in these words?

I knew that he had improvise some Swedish sounding gibberish, because he forgot the lyrics, but I never could tell until now

But is because he forgot the lyrics or it was on purpose? Because according some Eurovision scholars Björn Skifs sang nonsensical swedish word on purpose to protest the rule of "national language only" (he wanted to sing in english)
