TTAG Shred Diaries EP4 - Crete

The idea to go to Crete didn’t come about until pretty late on. We heard there was some ridable terrain down there, and that they were putting on a ski mountaineering race, up on at Psiloritis. Apparently they once tried to build a small ski resort here but the local sheep and goat population needed the land for grazing, so they let the project just kind of disappear.
Over the course of 10 days we hiked, climbed, dug and shredded two of Crete's tallest mountains, Psiloritis and Mt Dikti in the East. We were literally in disbelief that what we were doing was even possible. Strapping in this far South in the Mediterranean, right across the gulf from Egypt, with Saharan sand making the snow a lovely brown color. It was definitely one of the most unique places I'd been riding in my life.
