Hmmm someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m interpreting the first line of ‘So I let God go’ as a statement, in past tense. How he was feeling, ‘trying and trying to know, would you really love me if I told you I do?’ If you read the lyrics without singing it, it’s like he was in sad head space while talking to God, and feeling like giving up. ‘I’ve been holding my past for too long. You use my past against me, so now I’m gone.’ I guess thats the thing with music, it’s up for interpretation. How the artist expresses themselves, others misinterpret that. Be good to know what Nelz explanation is though. Still, really like the song.
