In the hot hatch world, few badges have as much clout as GTI and ST. Today, we'll be pitting the Ford Focus ST Edition vs the VW Golf GTI Clubsport for an epic track showdown.

I guess the focus ST continues to be a real hoot to drive even when it stopped being sold in the U.S. It also looks a little nicer and more refined than the last ST sold in the U.S. These videos make me miss the brilliant cars we don’t get in the States.

I've had my Race Red Focus ST for 3 years and I love it. Every mile is a joy. Manual gearbox, fully factory condition. I don't need anything else for everyday fun.

I did a few things with my Focus ST to make it more stable, disabled the fake cabin engine sound (Symposer) via Forscan. Got rid of the P1s for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 which stopped the wheel spin dry or wet. And learned how to use the flat foot shifting better to change gear. Get it to 3500 RPM and have some good fun. All within the speed limit of course.😆

You missed an important point...
The Pzero Corsa on ST is a UHP tyres like Michelin Cup2. For sure this tyre is shit on a wet track.

I took delivery of my GTI Clubsport yesterday, and I love it 😍 I also considered the Focus ST. But the overall package and a really good price convinced me to the GTI.

Got no doubt the Golf is quicker, but that track test was kind of pointless.
There were very obvious mistakes in both rounds, it probably came down to that more than the actual cars.

I just wish this could have been done on a dry day. Club sport is built for the track and £7000 more with DSG which makes all the difference. I would be happy with that ST.

A friend bought the focus st a couple of months ago, the car with 500/1000 km was much slower than now, it's crazy the change with 3/4k km, it would be nice another video in the future with focus' "real power"

The Focus felt more planted and serious vs the Golf which looked more playful. I wish we still had the Focus in the U.S but the auto clutch gearbox had many issues here and we’ve gotten accustomed to SUV’s sadly.
