7 Epic Spots in Iceland 🇮🇸
1. Stokksnes
Stokksnes Peninsula is one of the top locations in south east Iceland. The black sand beach and Vestrahorn mountain in the background are gorgeous.
2. Skogafoss
This waterfall is right off the main road. Make sure to walk to the top up the stairs to explore the trails above the falls. To find the lupin spot, walk towards the river where all of the flowers are! The lupins are there in June and July!
3. Studlagil Canyon
This canyon is about a 7km return walk, that is fairly easy. Go early to avoid crowds as it gets busy and it is a small area. If you can’t walk that far, there is a seperate parking lot with a viewing platform..
4. Reynisfjara
This beach is crazy and is actually deemed one of the most dangerous destinations in Iceland due to the sneaker waves that happen periodically.
5. Diamond Beach
This is one of the most stunning beaches in the world. It is essentially a black sand beach featuring glistening icebergs that have broken off from a glacier that have washed ashore on the beach.
6. Godafoss
This waterfall reminded me of a mini Niagara Falls. It was stunning. It is only about a 2 minute walk from the parking lot, so super easy to get to
7. Reykjadalur Hot Spring Thermal River
It’s a 3 hour long hike through a geothermal area with great views. We even saw a fox on our hike down! The hotspring river is free and it gets hotter the higher you hike up!
