I love that he tells us to stay safe when there's a huge forest fire heading his way! Such great insight into gaining more depth, thank you.

Wauw! What an insight you just shared with us Ken. This is solid gold for an inexperienced musician like me.
Can you tell us something more about how you modulate everything?
Also: how do you determine which track you put on the dry vca and which goes to the tank?
I love your channel man!
Hope you and your family stays safe from those wildfires.
Cheers!

Excellent Info as always!! This channel is a wealth of reference information that one can come back to time and time again as an aid to building better mixes. Thank you for sharing all of your experience. Ha Ha I was just about to say... go record those helicopters, then I heard them come up in the outro using the filter mod lesson you just shared. \m/

Dude, your enthusiasm for music production is infectious! I love hearing the "TANK" VCA isolated; you could easily make ambient albums just from that stuff alone. Stay safe and thank you once again for all the useful and inspiring tips!

I lived two years in a student dorm that was about 100 meters away from the helicopter landing pad at Norway's largest hospitale. Needless to say the helicopter took off and landed so many times a day you just get used to it. When I was making music I used to hang a microphone out the window while recording live, in hope that I would capture it in the background. But it never happened. I got some good ambience in general, from dangling a mic out the window on the fifth floor, but no 'Nam atmosphere.
