After only 6 weeks on the job, Liz Truss, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has resigned. Truss became Prime Minister following the resignation of Boris Johnson. Her short tenure was rocked with controversy over tax cuts and financial turmoil, as the British Pound dropped to its lowest value against the U.S. Dollar in almost 40 years. Truss says a leadership election should take place by the end of the week.

Imagine if other politicians stepped down because they couldn’t deliver on what they said and were elected for. We’d be out of politicians.

She’s the shortest reigning prime minister the UK has ever seen (45 days) - 2nd place is back in 1827, where a man reigned for 119 days however he DIED whilst being on the job!

I guarantee that she resigned because she can read the writing on the wall. Not because she's a stand up lady whose suddenly respectable because she can't keep her political promises. She knows the economy is about to tank and doesn't want to take the fall for it. So she's bailing.

Don't know what she did right or wrong, but I am hella jealous Brits have opportunity to remove leader they don't like, with no one in line, and have another election. Wish we had this opportunity in America.

I'm shocked. This isn't something you hear happening in America. Politicians rule until they die. I don't know UK politics. But regardles.... I just respect her in general for knowing she can't follow through on her promises. Politicians on both sides in America can learn from her.
