I really appreciate the professionalism here. He's not decrying the change of release but is simply asking as a professional to know what kind of equipment he is trying to optimize for. If this is going to be a home thing then he needs design specs to arrange for those limitations.

The theater experience for these films is incredible. I'm glad the soundtrack was tailored to that, and I'm willing to sacrifice the home viewing experience a bit for that. I saw Part 1 in theaters twice and have watched it at home a few times. I saw Part 2 in theaters once now but I'm planning to go again.

As an audio engineer myself, That blows me away they didn’t tell him.

It’s okay Hans, I saw it in theatres. Sounded wonderful both times.

I can tell Part II is made especially for cinema because I could feel my entrails roar when Paul rides the sandworm

See, this is why he is considered one of the greatest composers. Many would have had an Ego about going on to streaming, but his concern was always for the audience experience.

Really impressive to have that level of love for the craft and the viewer’s enjoyment of it. Super cool clip

I understand where he’s coming from, but I’m glad he wrote the score the way he did. Frequency ranges be damned.

I'm not the biggest Hans Zimmer guy, but the amount of love and attention he poured into the Dune soundtrack is very apparent and, to his point, there were certain things I remembered hearing in the film version that I didn't hear when playing it on my TV through streaming. He's adapts well to the contemporary film landscape and absolutely right in asking for that kind of info.

I was shocked when I saw the first Dune in the theaters. I saw it twice on Max, but it was a different experience in the theater. It felt so much more alive due to the score with huge speakers.

Glad I saw both in cinemas. I don't even go often and only went to see part one bc a friend wanted to see it. For part two I told her she should come visit again when it airs (she lives in a different city) so we can go see part two together bc part one was so fantastic

Hans Zimmer has been responsible for creating what is my favourite soundtrack ever with TDK & years later after that he now creates an even better soundtrack for dune which might become my new #1. Nobody does epic movie scores better than him i swear, he’s had me hooked on his work since i was a child, every movie i’ve seen that has his work i find myself going to listen to the movie soundtrack to appreciate the tracks in full length.

One of the most integral aspect of Dune is the music. I’m so grateful both were given the depth necessary to.

Keep in mind.

That's WB pulling this to HANS FREAKING ZIMMER.

Imagine what they would do to someone less known or to a project with a lesser known IP or no IP.

The soundtrack in a movie is everything.

The week it came out I bought a new TV and sound system to watch Dune at home. It sounded great.

This is true on any project management scale imo. If youre gonna make such a major change, every aspect of the project should be notified and accounted for.

Of course, I like to see action movies and shows on theatres especially Hollywood's cg works and fine audio effects. Streaming is good too, since viewers now mostly own a home theatre easily. The fact we should see all through the changes is the way good efforts in arts still prevail in obvious ways.

Glad they did a rescreening of the first movie before the second came out, completely different experience. A comment on a different video said it perfectly, it’s like buying a speed boat and using it in a swimming pool.
