UNI-T UT33-D multimeter

I needed an inexpensive small multimeter to fit between mu random DUT and mess around it, in a way that it will be visible on camera. So here it is, UNI-T (Uni Trend) UT33-D, surprisingly affordable basic multimeter. Nice robust construction, some attempts made for safety, only downside is the useless buzzer -
it's soooo slooow!

I am an absolute beginner in electronics and i got this thinking that it was some cheapie chinese low quality meter that i'll use for like a month . I bought it for like 10$ .
Very happy that's its actually a good quality for the price .

It looks like a fairly nice multimeter. I also have an UT33D (which I recently lent to a friend, so can't check now), but it's some older revision. IIRC, it had a normal glass fuse for the 200mA range and an unfused 10A input range. So it seems like they have improved the quality.
Take a look at the UT136B (4000 count, autoranging), it's only a little bit more expensive or at the Aneng AN8002. These two seem to be better value for the money (I don't own them, but judging by specs and reviews. I will probably soon buy the Aneng, but the safety isn't the best - OK for low voltage use. But it's cheap, True RMS, 6000 count and has a ton of features).

I have this multi-meter and it's just displaying a dot - nothing else. I'll try replacing a fuse and/or battery, but I doubt that it'll help.

I bought this same one today.
I rotated the dial to 500 V DC and tested it on an electric bug zapper to see how many volts it is. Then the multimeter's backlight lit without me pressing the button and the display is not visible now
