He is holding up Sainsbury's Skin on ASC Scottish Salmon Fillets, So Organic x2 240g (exact same packaging, he is covering the So organic logo). This cost £7.25 without any offers (as of today 15 Feb 2025), price per kilo £30.21.

Organic whole ASC Scottish salmon is minimum £25 per kilo, so 3.5kg would be £87.50.

He said that he yielded 3kg of filets from it. So 87.50 for 3kg would be £29.16 per kilogram.

At this point the saving per kilogram would be £1.05 so for 3 kg that would be saving of £3.15. The cost of packaging and cost of energy to run the freezer would be more than that.

The cheapest but non organic equivalent of the portioned pack he holds would be Stamford Street Co. ASC Salmon Fillets x2 240g that costs £3.89 which makes it £16.21 per kilo.

The whole non organic salmon he bought for £35 (not sure from where would be good if he disclosed, but I guess it is possible) yielded 3kg making it £11.67 per kilogram.

That in itself for non organic salmon would be almost third cheaper, so this £7 organic salmon comparison is purely for rage bite, and for that reason I am asking this platform to not recommend to me his content anymore. I am truly fed up with this tactic.

As a fish wholesale business owner, I would also mention a huge difference in quality and freshness. Fish degrades quickly after its been cut, so it's hard to know how long those precut fillets have been sitting since they were cut. Also quite often the precut options uses either a lower grade fish or a smaller fish (which are almost always cheaper except for strange circumstances). There are times a fillet and whole fish might appear to be similarly priced (adjusting for yield), but usually the above mentioned account for the difference. All things equal, I would always recommend buying a fish from a wholesaler or market (many of them will fillet them and give you those boneless fillets for a very small charge) and either portion to freeze or split it with family and friends!

Don’t think I’ve ever seen 1 fillet of salmon for £7 even in Waitrose and £35 pound for a whole salmon minimum is normal between £14-20 a kilo so more like £45-60
