Mahatma Gandhi — 'I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.'

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"

"We are a country of freedom here, but..."
So he understands that that forcing his religion on other people violates their freedom, but he doesn't care. This is what fascism looks like.

You didn’t find America, the native Americans are here before you!

Native Americans find it the height of irony watching these people say, “Don’t come here and try to turn this into another country. Embrace the beliefs of this country.”

I grew up in a Christian religion, in an area that has a high population of people from the middle east. Islam wasn't taught in school and neither was Christianity. Religion of any kind shouldn't be taught in schools. And the founding fathers didn't find this country in the name of God, they were trying to escape religious persecution. A Christian nation is literally the opposite of what they wanted. I've left the religion I grew up in and I've got to say the folks I've met in my same position as some of the kindest, most generous people I've met. They are far more Christlike than most of the people I know that are Christians.

The way these people MISS THE ENTIRE EFFING POINT of what this country was founded upon never fails to astonish me

I have met many more "Non-Christians, " who were living Christ's teachings than professed Christians, who were all hypocrites, not living Christ's teachings.

And this is exactly why we need separation of church and state.

This is why history needs to be taught better in schools. Our country was founded on religious freedom not Christianity.

Yea, don’t force your religious beliefs on other people. As a Native American, kinda seen this happening to me all my life.

I’m not a big fan of organized religion. I find the vast majority of them have extreme faults. That being said if you were a Trump supporter, you’re not a Christian, you’re a cultist.

I love how so many people think our founding fathers were super religious while all the historical evidence points to them trying everything they could to keep religion out of the government.

Thomas Paine was one of our Founding Fathers. Most school boards avoid kids learning about him because those boards are filled with dutiful churchgoers.

I want anyone seeing this comment to remember this. Thomas Paine, Founding Father, had this to say about Christianity:

“Of all the systems of religion that ever were invented, there is no more derogatory to the Almighty, more unedifying to man, more repugnant to reason, and more contradictory to itself than this thing called Christianity. Too absurd for belief, too impossible to convince, and too inconsistent for practice, it renders the heart torpid or produces only atheists or fanatics. As an engine of power, it serves the purpose of despotism, and as a means of wealth, the avarice of priests, but so far as respects the good of man in general it leads to nothing here or hereafter.”

Just learned this:
"Three people never to trust,
a religious leader who tells you how to vote,
a politician who tells you how to pray,
and a draft dodger who tells you how to be patriotic."

According to congress 1799 “ this nation was not founded on Christian principles

What they fail to realize is the separation of church and state protects their religious liberties by keeping the authority of the state out of it.

"The one true religion" is such a terrifying phrase

I am a baptized Roman Catholic, and went to a Catholic school. One of the priests who taught at the school, always taught us to respect others including their religion. He taught us that there is only one God, but people see Him in different ways. When my grandmother who had no particular affiliation to any religion died, her service was carried out in a Buddhist funeral. which was a custom in Japan. Some of her Protestant friends, did not come, saying that it was against their religion. The Catholic priest who taught us came, went through the funeral service accordingly to the Buddhist customs, and then prayed again separately at the side. That was when I realized what respecting other's religion meant.
