Hey, BVB fan here thought I'd check what Celtic fans thought about this game because we've been here too just 2 matches ago. I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I think 2 things proved themselves evident tonight: We have young players like Karim who are maturing and patching those previous weak points, and obviously Sahin is a new manager finding his feet and style. Still, this is one game and as Müller said next game starts at 0-0. God knows we've had our low-points and moments of frustration but have faith in your club and I'm sure those good days will come to you sooner than you think!

Falkirk was the warning sign and no one was talking about playing opponents 59 times better than falkirk

The worrying thing for me is that Rodgers was asked if upon reflection he would do anything different and he said "not really", will the penny ever drop...

Not Closing down space. Not keeping it tight and compact in midfield and gaps in press allowing Dortmund's electric pace to pour through the gaping spaces.

Dortmund are good but don't big them up too much. This scoreline was down to Celtic's organisation. Not the best use of Celtic's strengths and awareness of our weaknesses.

As a Dortmund fan, I didn't expect such a result, I thought Celtic would be much stronger. But there are just days like that. BVB did everything right, Celtic simply made too many mistakes. To be honest, it could have gone even higher. About the penalties: Well, you don't necessarily have to give them. But your penalty against Slovan just as little. 😉 I wish you all the best. Beat Leipzig and come back to Dortmund any time!

Guys, Mathis myth that Dortmund scored every chance. They absolutely did not. It could easily have been 10 or more.

“The Huns beat them in 2022…..”

Yes but they didn’t even attempt going toe to toe with them. They accepted Dortmund have better players and tailored their game plan accordingly.

Celtic’s approach last night was naive bordering on outright farcical

Julian brandt was stood free and unmarked for an entire 60 mins. It’s absolute madness

Hamish please tell Tony not to call BR an elite manager.Elite managers learn from their mistakes and adjust the teams tactics.

Rodgers is bang on the money with his pre and post match comments.

He mentioned before the match about mentality being as important as technical ability. The players bottled it again under pressure, and that seems to happen whover the manager is.

Every individual mistake punished, yet if Celtic go there and have 47% possession, score a goal, create 2 or 3 others, but lose 3-1, we're all relatively content with that. Take out the individual errors and that would have been the outcome.

It was a 7-1 because the manager just can't change things because of his stubbornness

Enda spot on. We looked like we were playing with only 10 men. Kyogo was anonymous as we couldn't get the ball past the midfield. Playing those triangles isn't going to work against top quality opposition. We need to mix it up...play the odd ball over the top, out wide or get one of the midfielder's to carry it and draw fouls in their half. Otherwise we've got no chance

Transfermarkt squad valuations at the UCL draw:

RB Leipzig @home. 517.13m v 106.75m
Borussia Dortmund away 471.6m v 106.75m
Atalanta away. 434.1m v 106.75m
Villa away 609.95 v 106.75m

...we shouldn't measure ourselves against these teams, hope for results, don't expect them.

Slovan Bratislava, Young Boys, Club Brugge (has a wee bit more but not a lot), Dinamo Zagreb on the other hand, if we don't beat teams in our own squad value bracket, then I would judge our squad and/or manager.

The team learns from testing our approach on better opponents. It is how you develop your game, changing the approach sends the wrong messages to the champs, the message is 'It isn't that you are not fully developed, it is you'll never be good enough'. The differences people are talking about are the lessons we can learn and use to adapt the current approach.

I don't think the team did badly, it's just about levels. You play against St Johnstone you look good, you play against a team levels above St Johnstone... maybe the level that looks good against the saints doesn't look good against Dortmund. Our team is young and has growth, if they handle this defeat well, this will develop them. They have 15 players 15-40m euros and like five 40m euro players!

Thanks for the calmer response, the Celtic Fans TV guys in Germany's rage was hard to listen to. HH

Rogers needs to wise up with his tactics in Europe and set out the team more defensively. Dortmund were different class but we contributed to our own downfall by going full gung ho against one of the best teams in Europe which in my opinion was absolute madness. As for the players with you guys that
I agree that Taylor wasn't 100% fit in fact I don't think he was even 80% but some of the performances were shocking though I do think Scales played better than most and Daizen at least gave it a shot and provided our only fleeting moment of happiness with the goal . However, make no mistake last night was a major wake up call, and if we play like that against Atalanta, we're in for yet another very uncomfortable night 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Devastatingly bad result on the back of great optimism, a lot of Celtic pundits were saying even before if we got beat it would be great if we put up a great fight and show that we can at least compete at this level, the Bratislava result never made us a good team, and this result doesn’t make us a bad team, the mark of a good team will be if they rise to the next big challenge and take something from it, this game is now history!

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. On that basis Rodger’s philosophy in Europe is insane. He set the team up to play against Dortmund exactly as he did in Perth at the weekend. The only surprise was that they didn’t score double figures!

BR acting like a novice. Slavia Prague, similar to Celtic in their league set up to deny space and counter attack with pace. We have the players for this and gives us a chance. With BR not willing to change, this will happen again.

BR never learns, another heavy defeat to add to his list, , how he can say he wouldn't or won't change his tactics, any good manager would,
