I bought the Dyson to help prevent damage to my hair. I use the air wrap as I dry my hair so it dries and curls all at once. When I do it that way it stays for days and it doesn't heat my hair as hot as a curling iron. Ince I switched my hair has stopped breaking and my hair is longer than I ever thought possible.

I’m so glad you compared it to other products - every hair influencer always just talks about how amazing it is without any comparison. I also love how your videos are 2 minutes and get straight to the point

I got the Airwrap six months ago. My thoughts for anyone considering it are:

-The price is insane, you def don't need it, as Chris says, there are waaay less expensive products that perform most of the functions the Airwrap does significantly better than the Airwrap, so no one should feel super bummed if they are unwilling or unable to purchase it.
-Having said that, I don't regret getting it at all and I use it every time I wash my hair, after more than a decade of sticking to air drying 99% of the time because i'm lazy, time poor, and don't like how flat irons make my hair look. I do wish I'd waited a few months so I could get the customised version, because I want the 20mm barrel and they still don't sell it separately, and I don't use the soft smoothing brush, only the firm one, I think the soft smoothing brush is completely unnecessary.
-I really like the firm smoothing brush, not because it makes your hair look all that amazing, but just because it makes it look presentable for work with very little effort. I have very fine hair and not a lot of it, so I much prefer how this looks over a flat iron, cause I still have some body and it looks better as the curl returns to my hair over the course of a work day in humid Sydney, and it looks significantly better than my hair when I let it air dry. It's nowhere near as good as a blow out at the hairdressers, but I don't expect it to be.
-The round volumising brush is nice to have and I use it at the start of my blow dry process to try to achieve some volume at the roots of my hair and get my hair a bit dry, then I go in with the firm smoothing brush and either finish there or use barrels to curl. I would never just use the round volumising brush for my whole blow dry, it does leave your hair frizzy and just isn't strong enough for a decent at home blow out, and of course nothing like a salon blow out. Still, nice to have. Sounds like the revlon is way better if you did want to primarily use this kind of thing, rather than the other attachments.
-The barrel curls aren't as strongly curled or long lasting as curling iron curls (I have naturally curly hair, for reference), but they are pretty, in a softer way, and I do them most of the time these days (it took a while to get good at them). I own a curling iron and never use it though, so this kinda beats a curling iron for me because I actually have the desire to use the thing consistently.

I guess that's my big takeway atm; the dyson airwrap is the best hair tool I own because it fits into my life well and I have the consistent desire to use it. It's better than my hairdryer, GHD iron and curling wand, because they are sitting forgotten in my closet. I don't have great or easy to style hair, I'm not skilled at hair styling, I just want it to look nice and presentable with minimal time investment and effort and the dyson does that and my hair looks better than it does when I just leave it to air dry, which is what I was doing before I got this. I do think it looks healthier too, since I started using it, but I have no idea what to attribute that to. If you have an office job and are content to not have immaculately styled hair but do want some degree of styling and smoothness that is relatively easy and quick to achieve and the price isn't an issue, the airwrap might be for you.

Would absolutely love a review on the Dyson Airstraight!

Very interesting that not one word regarding the technology and damage it causes to your hair. In my opinion, most people who got the airwrap got it to put less heat on their hair. Therefore, it is not so much about whether another tool can do the same but rather what are side effects of both tools. I bought my airwrap refurbished for $350 and I can tell that not using other soley heat based tools anymore, did wonders for my hair.

If you can afford the Airwrap - go for it, I own it and Revlon and everything else, and there is no comparison to Airwrap. There is absolutely no damage even without protection and some people can not use too many products as the hair will be weighed down. But it is very expesnive and if you are on a budget - other options are available and you will get great results with them, too.

The Dyson is expensive but it’s so much better for your hair, minimal hair damage. With the right products, it’s amazing. My hair has never been better. Having owned the revlon brush, the damage is way too much in the long run…if you have the budget, I would definitely recommend the Dyson

I am a person that can’t do there hair, I am really bad - the air wrap was a game changer for me, I curl my hair with it after every wash (I wash once a week) and my hair looks great for the rest of the week

I got rid of my Revlon and went back to a round brush. It was destroying my hair - gets way too hot even on the low setting.

I’ve bought all the Dyson hair tools (Airwrap, supersonic and corrale) all in a bundle, I had the money and I think the products are very premium and guess what it gets the job done. I look at it as an investment. One time visit of hair salon costed me an Airwrap in the place I live (Denmark) so why not? I’ve gotten to know my hair and have learned a lot about the hair and will hopefully never visit hair salon again.

My hairstylist uses the airwrap every time she curls my hair and the curls last 7 days on my thin, fine hair. She also uses it at home on her own hair. I returned the revlon blowdry brush as it was too hot and burnt my hair and my scalp. I also found the brush too large.

Well, as a woman who started using the Dyson Super Sonic 5 months ago and now has the most healthy hair of my life, I purchased the Dyson Air Wrap and LOVE IT! If someone has seriously damaged hair it might be worth every single cent…

I appreciate your frankness. I’ve had my Dyson air wrap for almost two years now, and I’ve never been happy with it, but I’ve kept on using it and trying to figure out how to make it work better for me because for the price it was, I was determined to try……plus, there are thousands of others online who have nothing but praise for it so I wondered if I was just not very adept. My hair is fine and just above the shoulders, and I bought it in the hopes that it might allow me to get away with using less heat on it every day, but on the contrary I can’t get the tension I need with *any* of the brushes they have (including the newest one for shorter hair) so I never get the smooth shiny hair that I want. Thanks for not mincing words here.

Hi Chris. I agree there is a learning curve to it and results sometimes are not as good as revlon hot bloow dry brush. But I was wondering if you could comment on long term heat damage with dyson compared to other hot tools because dyson claims that temp never gets higher than 150 C while with other tools we know it can ge higher.

I hoped that as a specialist in the area you would compare if it really protects and cares for the hair as indicated, not what you indicated.

Hey Chris, I usually love your videos but I see something off here.
First, the barrels are too short for those hair you need the long ones.
Moreover the hair is not damp to start with, the curls will never hold.
The round brush, I suggest it to add shine after having used the other brush attachments.
That said, it is not a professional tool but it is sooo helpful for someone with not a lot of time on their hands

I have been using my airwrap for 5 years now, and I can go 3 (I've tried and made it 5) days. At night, i loosely put my hair into a pineapple bun and just drop it in the morning, it actually has a lift from being up overnight. I use it when my hair is completely wet (i got the new long attachment switches direction rather than trading directions) it really doesn't take long at all. I save a good 30 minutes in my routine by not drying then curling plus less heat. I have natural curly hair and really lost it because of heat damage, but during covid, i stopped all styling, and about 6 months later, i started to get the curls back. Tha ks to the dyson i can choose my curls on days i want.

So I recently purchased this and returned it. I didn’t want to but I tried it for a month and it really didn’t work. I bought the l’anage one. And it left my hair silky smooth.

I think that the mayor good is that the Dyson is better for the hair. When I purchased any tool to use on my hair, I’m trying to buy the one that course less damage
