IMPORTANT PRICE & FEATURE UPDATE: Just got this from Graham Slee, who said that the upgraded Enigma power supply, "...is actually an additional £200.00 when purchased with a phono stage (compared to the cost with the PSU1) or £350.00 if purchased separately." In addition, "The Variable output is actually the same level as the fixed out when turned up full. The variable output can also be useful if used for archiving purposes to reduce the level to prevent clipping when recording."

Preaching to the converted in my case Paul as I've had an Accession MC + Enigma since January 2019 (replaced a Graham Slee Reflex C). For any doubters they can judge for themselves by taking advantage of the loan programme, only costs the return postage..

Interesting as always, I am sure Graham Slee will be delighted with this positive review. I have been using this pre-amp for a couple of years having previously had the much more expensive Allnic H1500 SE II. I didn’t think I lost much, if any sound quality, which says so much for the little Accession. I also got the Enigma psu from the start, and I like the inclusion of the mono switch.

What a great review Paul, thorough to a fault, I was particularly impressed and interested by the pre-amp review, I have a pair of Graham Slee Proprius monoblocks and I'm saving for a second pair hopefully though I'm not sure if I need to after watching this review.

I'd certainly agree that it sounds great as a preamp; I used one for several years in a vinyl only system with a pair of Proprius power amps. The only downside was that the Accession adds no gain to the low powered Proprius. Wasn't a problem at the listening levels I prefer, but if you want to knock the walls down you would need to pick efficient speakers.
I only added a preamp to the system when i started to miss the alternative inputs for CD, FM radio etc.

Wouldn't it be nice if they put this in a case with switchable MM/MC and the variable output but coupled with two more inputs through a passive pot to make a top notch Pre-amp....

It does seem nice though, oh I currently use the original Trichord Dino, I must have bought it about 15+ yrs ago.

I ran an Accession MM for years - thought it was great - and when I jumped ship to MC in 2020 put a Graham Slee Elevator EXP (with the Enigma PS) in front of it (more loading options). Enjoyed that, too. Although I've since moved on elsewhere I still like to drop into the Graham Slee forums from time to time (an agreeable place!)

Is this a big improvement over the GSP Era Gold which I preferred to the GSP Revelation ? . I always felt a Goldring 1042 into a GSP Era Gold a good match .
I still wonder if MC's are worth the heart ache ; they are fussy to set up and expensive to replace. I am running a Benz Micro Ace SL now and on the look out for a good phono stage . Looking for a sweet point of investment vs performance I guess . Any advice would be appreciated, particularly of how much you would need to spent to better the Accession MC.

Hi Paul . Having followed your channel for some time, would I be right in thinking your opinion of dip switches has mellowed in regard to this unit . I must admit to me they always look like they will fall apart at the earliest opportunity . But possibly the tec has improved from days gone by . Kind regards as always . 😂

Does this latest 1200GBP bargain have the usual £40 worth of not even audio grade caps.Laughably u have to pay even more for an extra power supply
