in his essay, ‘An Answer to the Question: What Is Enlightenment’ (1784), Immanuel Kant
defines Enlightenment as ‘man’s emergence from his self-imposed immaturity’. However, he
goes on to state that ‘it is difficult for any individual man to work himself out of... immaturity’.
Why is this? What obstacles to enlightenment — what he calls ‘shackles’ — does Kant name?
Discuss the key points of Kant’s argument and describe in particular the type of freedom Kant
sees as a requirement for enlightenment to occur.

Hey this video help save my life, I couldn't understand at all Kant's article (I'm still learning English), and this video help me so much to catch the idea that Kant actually wanted to transmit. The examples you show in the video are also awesome. Thank you so much.

True enlightenment isnt taught. You can't teach the refrigerator unless plugged in to source. Our 5 sense gates filter reality. Enlightenment is an inner intimacy. Much like explaining to a blind person what a rainbow looks like, the beyond is beyond words

a bit confused about the term ''self incurred immaturity'' what i think about this, is:, our conscious dullness towards reason which straggles our journey towards maturity

Kant was from the EIGHTEENTH century. The 1600s were the 17th century. It's 2021. We don't say it's the twentieth century, right? That's because the first century is everything before the year 100.

Isn't it ironic that if we follow Kant's steps of moving towards enlightenment, we're actually doing exactly the opposite of what he says? Of using our reason?😂

Umm... ya... so-oh, who does think we are in a phase of enlightenment?

I am lost on the emphasized distinction that Kant, in particular, does not think we are in a phase of enlightenment, but... ya...?
