I mean the more you look into it and listen to the so called “smoking gun” tape that you start to understand that in all likelihood, Nixon had no clue what was going on in Watergate.

I used to think Nixon was a crook and had everything to do with Watergate and his stating “I’m not a crook” was him not wanting to admit it. However, after I realize what happened with JFK and Trump, I know now that like them, he was screwed.

My uncle worked at CIA from old OSS days through retirement. Normally he NEVER talked about it but one day in the Nineties when he was retired at Pinehurst there was a show on Watergate on TV. It was on the part where "White House aide" Alexander Butterfield "let slip" at a hearing that Nixon had a taping system. He said "You want to understand all this ask what his job was at the White House." I said "I'll bite." "He was the CIA liason officer there." He wouldn't say more but made me think.
