Composers and music directors create, conduct, direct, plan, and lead instrumental and vocal performances. They have several responsibilities including:

Transcribing ideas into musical notation
Attending auditions and selecting performers

In 1999, the Bureau of Labor Statistics recorded $34,750 as the average base salary. By 2019, the average base salary rose to $64,670. Wages grew by $29,920 (or $1,496 yearly) from 1999-2019. The estimated 2021 average base salary would be $67,662, using $1,496 as the average yearly income. If trends were to continue, by 2029, the average base salary would rise to $79,630.
