A request, I have always struggled with painting the edges of trees with sky. One of the mass becomes dirty or deshaped. Can you please record a video to demonstrate the method to merge sky and tree lines?

Phil, good one again. Like the focus on the "obscure" artists who we never heard about to illustrate your lessons regarding the big shapes and strong values to hold a painting, any painting, together. I did a few marina scenes when I lived in CA, mostly at coastal plein air events I was in, like in SLO, and nearby Morro Bay, but they are not my favorite subjects; too many verticals for my liking. Plus, they are about "the mark of man", a bias I have against anything man-made, me going for "pure" nature mostly in my landscapes. ;D

However, you did show that the basic structures and techniques of the featured paintings can be translatable into any other genres of painting in your demonstration of that Colorado stream scene!

Please come to Tucson soon, it's getting paintable outside now, being cooler, and let me know when you are here, you can stay with us. I live about two miles from Catalina state park, and there are many thousands of paintings to be had there, as you know!! Cheers! : )

Thanks a lot for your helpful teaching. Your own painting was very beautiful. My problem with this methde is that I loose enthusiasm to continue painting when I put second or third layer. Is there a methde that I start and finish painting from top to butom. Thanks.

The first harbor scene ( the winter one) was excellent. He not only captured the light, he showed the tide, too. So, did he Make a note to have it a low tide, even if it took longer than the tide to paint the scene? Would it have been easier for him to just make it high tide? Just grand!

The painting @5:49 seems to violate the "never place the focal point in the center" rule.

Am I the only one who noticed the big demonic face in the center tree at around 7:45? I understand paradolia, but that's pretty glaring to me.
