Fix your leaky hose outlets! I neglected doing so, and the constant drip all year long took a good chunk of foundation out of the concrete base, due to rust and corrosion. The rebar rusted away, accelerating the break down of concrete.

For people who don’t have gutters and their foundation is flooding it’s more likely the yards drainage is the issue. You should have gutters and a french drain.

You seem very knowledgeable sir. I have a question for you. I live at the top of a hill and water is pooling at the corner of my garage. I dug a ditch to deepen the spot where the water is pooling and the ditch runs downhill off the side of the hill. Over the past 40 years the same corner of the garage has developed a pretty large crack and a little sag. I'm trying to put an end to the foundation damage. Is a ditch as effective as a french drain? How deep should my ditch be to prevent further foundation damage? Thanks for your help. I'm definitely subscribing.

Coach - all the information on your channel is very helpful and needed. I have a question about the drainage system? My 3 stall stand-alone garage floods out each spring. I do have gutters on two sides. I get up on a ladder and clean them out in the fall. I know this spring I will need to silicone the seams as they leak during heavy rains. Perhaps I need larger sized gutters. ? I did put in rain barrels at the
two down spouts last spring. They seem to do well. So my question is if I were to dig out around 3 sides of the garage and put in a drain system what one would I do? I would be doing the work myself and trying to find product the least expensive as I possibly can. I don’t want my garage cement floor to crack or the concrete/ cinder block to crack more than already has happened. ( not much) I do believe much of the water comes from the garage doors leaking the water in from snow melt on the driveway. It’s packed class 5. But some come in from the corners.
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks for your time in advance! 🙏

Gravel and pvc pipe with holes facing down will do the trick

I have a low area where my driveway meets the garage; specifically just around the corner of the garage, where water accumulates whenever there's a decent rainfall. This area is also where we store our garbage and recycling carts; do you think I could get away with putting down a good deal of river rock to help solidify the soil under the carts and help encourage drainage/slope away from the side of the garage towards the side yard (where it has a better grade down and away between our house and the neighbor's house? Or is this doomed to fail, and the water will still pool up a ton under the rock?

🏡. My sidewalk leans into my garden bed . What level should the dirt be .At the level of the sidewalk ? I need to water but when it rains it soaks the ground and my Perennials are not happy .
#2. Do you have a simple video showing how to put in a French drain away from the house . I have a a gutter drain run off at the corner of my home ( NE) which looks like a mini pond !

Hello how much of the French drain pipe will I need ? Also do you have a video on how exactly how to do this? Step by step if possible? I put down the wrong weed barrier and the waters not drawing and already out the gravel and stepping stones. Do I have to remove all of this or can I poke holes in the tarp to let the water drain? Need help?…😢

What’s the best drainage/ water proofing solution for basements ?

thanks great help. Would one 4'' perforated drain suffice for an area by my house, about 3' x 7'? Seems like there's alot of surface area for one pipe to handle all that space. Does it have to be connected to a downspout, or can the pipe system be entirely undergroud? Thanks!

Is there there a better option without using gravel, rocks or river stones? We have snakes issues here and they love the heat that gets trapped in between them.

A french drain is much more expensive and labor intensive than gutters. Plus, you have to somewhere to run it to. This advice is correct, but misguided.
