Great and incredibly comprehensive preview! I have made it through just in time to witness Nagelsman's dream fall apart 🙈 But if Cristiano can score 5+ goals in this tournament, It will be an interesting parallel to draw with Messi.. Highly doubt france don't make it to the final though

Portugal basically got gifted a semi-final spot by the luck of the draw alone.
-) Easiest group (meaning it's an easy win with a chance to rest players)
-) Facing a 3rd place finisher from another group (A, B or C, which are all groups with 2 strong teams at most)
-) Being relatively rested due to their easy draw in the QF against a team that didn't win their group (D2 or E2)

And that's the only thing that makes them contenders. They are probably the worst 1-seeded team but the circumstances give them a big lift.
