Inflation was over 19% in 1917, when the US entered in the last year of WW1 (1914-1918). It was also over 19% in 1947. But they weren't over $30 TRILLION in debt. In 47' they were about $258 billion in debt (today's value, of $3.2 trillion). So we have 10 times more debt than the US did after WW2.
