Jaybird Bluebuds X power on issue

Sometimes they won't turn on if they've been in my pocket for an extended amount of time - not until I plug them in for a few seconds to kick start the battery

try this method, although it didn't work for me. it may work for others.

1) press power button 8 times, then on the 9th time, hold it for 5 seconds
2) repeat step 1, once more
3) let it charge for 30min-1hr (don't touch it while it's charging)

"This should "hard reset" the power button" -- Jaybird Customer Service Rep...

hope it helps...

"Firmly but quickly press the power button 8 times and then hold for 5 seconds. Repeat 2 times. When finished, plug the headset into the charger"

From a jaybird support guy, worked for me

Thanks for this, this is what worked for me. Though initially, I thought your idea of kickstarting the darn thing made sense, It worked only the first time. Then I turned it off again and it wouldn't turn on, tried your method and still nothing. I found pushing down on the power button longer than usual works. Just hold it (patience) and wait til you hear the "Power ON" prompt through the earbuds. This has worked pretty consistently. Not sure if this is due to wear and tear. Have had mine over a year now. Unfortunetaly I'm past the warranty. Good luck Everyone!

Holy cow, dude! I searched all of the Jaybird forums and stuff and none of their ideas worked. Your idea worked! I can't leave it plugged in for too long, but your "2 second jumpstart" did the trick! Thank you!

I am on my second pair of Jaybird X2 due to power on problem and after about 1 month they too would not power up. I was Live Chatting with Jaybird saying I wanted a refund but they explained that they should not be charged on a charger stronger than 5volts 1Amp and not for longer than 2.5 hours. I had forgot mine at work charging on my PC overnight and then they would not power up. They told me to firmly but quickly press the power middle power button 8 times and then hold for 5 seconds and repeat that 2 times. That worked and are now working fine. I told them this would have been good information for the manual. From now on will have to set alarm on my phone to remind me not to charge past 2.5 hours.

Ordered these twice and had to return them both times. First time the box had obviously been opened and they were all scratched up... second time I received them I put them on the charger and 4 hours later the light was still red... So I took them off the charger and tried to pair them with my device but they wouldn't even turn on.

Very dissapointed... I was so excited about these...

For people having this issue, try using chargers with a power output of 5W or less. For example, Ipad chargers are 12W and will charge the battery fine but will have power-on issues as mentioned in the video.

Does anyone have this problem?
Headset can't turn on

Once plugged on to a charger light it shows green showing its charge.

Still won't turn on.

I suffered the same problem with my first pair, I went to Apples Store where I bought and they replace me for other pair without problem, however today I had the same problem with this new pair. I followed the advice below about connect by some seconds and then works, obviusly BB has a problem about the battery on the headphones, for the next ocassion I will try to discharge completely the battery before recharge and I will see.

try and see if a factory reset is the solution:
To perform a factory reset on your headset you will first need to get them into pairing mode by holding down the middle button until you get the alternating flashing RED and GREEN lights (some users report having to initially hold down the volume + and volume – buttons instead.) Once in pairing mode, press and hold both the volume + and volume – keys at the same time until you see an orange flash and a beep (for about 8-10 seconds). The orange flash indicates the reset was successful. This will reset them to factory condition wiping out any software issues and allow them to operate normally again. Once reset, any info they’ve stored previously will be deleted. You will have to delete the Bluetooth profile from your device and re-connect them like new.

Mine aren't turning on period. I'm returning them today. Shame that this is still a problem with these ear buds.
