I’ve rewatched the first 3 mins around 10 times because my mind fills with thoughts as the video plays. This is going to be one of the best presentations ever. Thank you very much to everyone involved in creating, publishing, and sharing.

EPIC. This is something I've wanted to make a while back. I even made a weak attempt at it but gave up. I am absolutely floored that you made this!

One of the BEST videos I've ever watched on YouTube. Thank you and I enjoyed every second of it. It feels I am 6 in a candy store with an all-you-can-eat-coupon in my hand.

One thing that's missing is metaphilosophy, which includes questions such as:
What is the purpose of philosophy?
Is philosophy practical?
Given that we still debate ideas that are thousands of years old, has progress been made in philosophy?

Hi Carneades! It’s been a while. I hope you’re doing well 😊.
I just had my first philosophy seminar at University and the teacher literally put this video on for the class. This was because we were discussing the question “did the Greeks invent philosophy?”
Even after all this time I’m still running into your work even at University lol 😂.

Thank you for mapping the various philosophies. As you went around the world, I noticed two glaring omissions - Indian philosophy and that of the Australian aboriginal world. Both are ancient and I believe have profound and original contributions.

When you start studying the highest levels of sciences, getting closer to the edge of current knowledge, the philosophic nature of it all becomes crystal clear. It's basically what pushes scientific knowledge further: there would be no thought experiments or hypotesis formulation without the application of philosophical practices.

As an antarctic philosopher, this was very insightful.

U have to add in ur map Spinoza and Marx, they are not marginal thinkers. Hegel said: "no philosophy without Spinoza."
But I really appreciate the effort of mapping something that big.

I love how you mentioned Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron." Now that I think about it, the satire is quite philosophic, it's sort of like a dystopoian thought experiment that has some social commentary.

Wonderful video, thanks for doing this .

I don't know how much I truly understood ( not much) but it helps to see it organized in this manner in order to begin to connect the dots and having a broad picture of where the things I've learned so far fit in in the universe of philosophy

Although this is very impressive, I think that this is a Western understanding of philosophy. It makes perfect sense for an Occidental orientation of the last 2000-3000 years. However, Eastern Philosophy is poorly represented here. There are many errors showing a lack of knowledge on the relationship between certain 'philosophies' (i.e. Indian-Buddhist-Japanese) and the 'non-dualist' inner nature of such conceptions of reality obliterate the Western tradition which is called 'Philosophy'. If philosophy as we know it, how it's taught at university level and even at schools, is English - then the Eastern tradition is Klingon. The approach is totally different. I wish I knew this when I studied. Also I wish I had a useful map like this describing how all the pertinent things in my courses linked to each other. Great job!
