This works for any pest! We were at a wedding reception that was outdoors. The yellow jackets were everywhere! I started making these traps out of empty soda bottles and putting some punch, hard-boiled egg and water, or hamburger meat floating in water. I added a few drops of dish soap and hung them in the trees. Soon the number of yellow jackets at the receprion dropped. When we cleaned up, almost all of them were full of yellow jackets and flies!

Fantastic works parade and doesn’t cost hardly anything. Tuna fish is only about $.60 a can and you can make four traps. Thank you so much.

great job on the video--simple design and you used things most everyone has in their house--I am making some now!

The Winters in Arizona are for Central! My house is currently infested with flies! Time to down 2 liters of soda!

I like the sweet music of death at the end.

Two suggestions:
1) Add a 1/2 tsp dish soap to the bottle so the flys sink into the water
2) Cut the lid COMPLETELY OFF the can. So easy to cut your finger by leaving it on like that.

It attracted my nosy neighbor, now she's stuck inside the bottle.

Awesome video, Kayla. I'm losing my mind from these flies coming into my house (no a/c) and have ducks outside. Horrible!! I've been to Tractor Supply and bought thing after thing, still flies everywhere. Can't use the computer without a fly swatter in one hand. Going to try it. Great idea and thanks for sharing. Friend from NW Florida!

fish sauce, water, brown sugar, yeast and some guineapig poop worked for me :-)

Try whisking up a couple of eggs and pouring in.

That works very well as a bait too.

Obviously topped up with water.

Holy cow! All those flies in less than a week? 😱💀 And they are just piling on top of each other? 🤢🤮 That is the most flies in a trap I've ever seen! 😧 Guess it really truly works! 😊 Good for you! 👍

Flies are hovering around our garbage cans. Tuna for bait is working great Immediately—no waiting three days

Maybe put in a pinch of dirt for the germs, microwave it til it's nice and warm to speed up the rotting process, leave out in sun. Then serve to chickens or use flies as fertilizer!

For in-doors, all I do is get a small bowl. Put 1/2 cup water in it. Then put 1-2 ounces of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of sugar in it. Lastly, 1-2 drops of dish washing liquid. I then put the small bowl under a light in the kitchen. I catch each and every fly 100% of the time within 20 minutes. I use an old cottage cheese container with a lid. Once I catch the fly/flies, I fish them out, put the lid on the container and put it under my kitchen sink for later use. Why waste the ingredients

Do you recommend hanging it in a shady or sunny spot? Or high versus low spot?
