Here is an update on my review video I previously posted, here is a link to that video

Within the first year and 10,000 miles it was in the shop 3 times for an issue that may or may not be resolved. The above links are my Amazon Affiliate links, as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. Thank you for supporting my channel!

Thank you for this video! We have a 2018 Odyssey, and we have a similar problem when we try to start the vehicle. It is sooo frustrating! I hope that your video gets a lot more views so that Honda can fix it.

Thank you for sharing this! Was considering a 2019 Odyssey, but leaning toward a 2020 Toyota Sienna… after seeing this video and reading comments from other concurring Odyssey owners, I’m on my say to the Toyota dealership— not that they’re perfect, but they are willing to learn from errors and correct mistakes! Thanks again, and so very sorry for your 💐💐💐

Did u notice that the rear HATCH is wayyyy to low. We always bang our heads on it. Was hoping for a recall but nothing so far.

2018 odessey here. my odessey hard breaks because of collision mitigation is a loose cannon and having acceleration delays at lower gears. In the process of going through a claim with Honda for a full refund buy back. Consult a lemon law lawyer. I;ve only been to the service center once for these issues but there apparently have been tons of lawsuit regarding these 2 issues.

Have a 2019 ody with 36, 000 miles and started getting a transmission whine about 10, 000 miles ago. Had it in the shop and they messed with it and they said it was fixed and of course it wasn’t. Filled out the followup survey and the service manager actually called wanting to take a ride to hear what I am hearing. Super busy so haven’t been able to get back, but plan on doing so. This is why I will only lease a vehicle. This will be Honda’s problem in a few months.

My Honda odyssey 2019 has the same problem. Lost power ( battery completely drain out when side door open) I was bringing my Honda to dealer 5 times but they told me..nothing wrong. Now I have to. Live with it...!

I would not believe them that there was "no damage" to your transmission if it was violently thrown into park while driving down the road multiple times. Make them put in writing that there was no damage and if damage is discovered later they'll cover it under factory warranty beyond the normal warranty period.

We also have a 19 Odyssey and the collision avoidance system absolutely sucks. You can be driving down the interstate another car will change lanes in front of you and our Odyssey will slam the brakes on thinking you're going to hit them. I'm just waiting on somebody to rear end me on the interstate because of the stupid system. There's other times we'll just be driving down the road and the collision avoidance system will kick on out of the blue and the car will break without warning. Of course a dealer can never find anything wrong with it.

I just bought a 2022 Odyssey, 1 week old and at 330 miles the transmission crapped out on us while heading out on vacation. Needless to say our vacation has been halted as no one is open for the Memorial Day Weekend. Not impressed at all.

Hi, we own a 2018 model and while we are driving the van makes this quick grinding gear noise and just looses all the power, no gas pedal response for a few seconds and than after pumping the gas pedal all of the sudden it comes back to life. Super scary situations gracias sometines we are on the freeway with the family. It's been happening since 60, 00 miles and it doesn't throw any codes whatsoever. Anyone is having the same issue? I got the Christmas lights and died completely which it turned out to be the injectors, which Honda did recognized being a recall and replaced all 6 of them. But we still have the same issue of loosing power while driving. Any help is appreciated.

Back from a bad service department experience.
My 2019 Honda Odyssey only starts with a jump start.
The Service department charged the battery and wouldn't put the computer on for an engine check.
Having my regular garage look at it tomorrow.

Your honda is made in America, not made in Japan, that's why. LoL!

The Details

Vehicles recalled: Certain 2019 Honda Odyssey minivans manufactured from April 12, 2018 through Jan. 14, 2019 and certain 2018 Honda Odyssey minivans manufactured from Jan. 19, 2017 through April 16, 2018.

The problem: Either a faulty battery or a faulty battery connection could cause the computerized transmission controller to reboot while the vehicle is in motion. If that happens, the transmission will automatically attempt to shift itself into Park. That could damage the parking rod, which is the part of an automatic transmission that keeps a vehicle stationary when shifted into Park. As a result of this damage, the vehicle could roll away even if the vehicle is parked.

If the transmission attempts to shift into Park while the vehicle is in motion, drivers may notice noise or the feeling of added friction in the drivetrain. A Honda spokesman told CR that he's unaware of any instances when the transmission succeeded at shifting into Park at speed.

The fix: Honda will update the transmission controller’s software, tighten 12-volt battery cables, and replace the transmission free of charge if the parking gear does not work properly.

How to contact the manufacturer: The recall is expected to begin June 1, 2019. Owners of affected vehicles may also contact Honda at 888-234-2138.

for anyone watching recently, this issue turned into a recall and was fixed by honda. They would check the battery cable from the battery connection back. And for honda owners who had the recall maintenance performed... CHECK IT after the maintenance was performed, my local dealer said they fixed mine, got it home and checked it and it wasn't fixed...
