5 Drills For Center Defenders And CDM's: Soccer training for defenders and midfielders

In today’s video, we’ll show you 5 great football drills for center defenders and center midfielders (CDM’s).
Exercise #1
Start by performing a coordination sidestep exercise and step in front of a dummy to intercept the ball. Then quickly pass the ball into a small net. Repeat the coordination exercise in the opposite direction then intercept an aerial pass. Get the ball under control and drive into space, finishing with another pass into a net. With this exercise, it's important to focus on your awareness, especially when intercepting passes. Technically focus on a good first touch, pass accuracy, speed of passes and driving with the ball to break lines.
Exercise #2
Start by performing an agility movement by sitting down then quickly popping back up. Then control an aerial pass, dribble forwards and complete a 360 turn with the inside or outside of your foot. Quickly play a give and go and finish with a driving run up the field. With this exercise, focus on taking a good 1st touch with the aerial ball. When dribbling keep the ball close to you and look to change direction quickly when turning.
Exercise #3
Strat by performing an agility movement by dropping to your stomach then quickly popping back up. Control an aerial pass and again complete a 360 degree turn with the inside or outside of your foot. Look up and play a long, driven diagonal pass in the air. Follow up with a driving run up the field. With this exercise, you want to focus on a good 1st touch with the aerial ball, change of direction when dribbling and correct technique and weight of the long diagonal pass.
Exercise #4
Start by performing a coordination exercise then step in front of a dummy to win an aerial ball. Next shuffle back and win a high ball with a long defensive header out. With this exercise, you want to focus on technique, timing and reading the flight of the ball when head away
Exercise #5
Start by performing an agility exercise, followed by pogo jumps back. Sprint to cover the near post and head the ball away. Again with this exercise, it's important to concentrate on reading the flight of the ball and clearing as far as you can.
