Hood Outlaws and Legends Review – A new a medieval game with PvPvE gameplay!

This review of Hood Outlaws and Legends was conducted on PC but the game is releasing with cross play on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S! The game was created by Sumo Digital and published by Focus Home Interactive. I was send a press copy for this review.
Hood Outlaws & Legends is a team based player versus player game where both teams compete to steal the sheriffs treasure from his castle which is guarded by AI guards and based in the dark medieval world inspired Robin Hood. I’ve already sunk over 20 hours into Hood Outlaws & Legends and tried all of the 4 current classes, the archer, assassin, monk and brawler each is completely unique in its gameplay but expect some balancing issues early on. Today I’ll be discussing my favorite parts of the game and parts I believe need some more work, this review is just our opinion and I believe Hood Outlaws and Legends is a great start for what hopes to be a new medieval multiplayer experience.

How I think Hood Can be improved
1. Don’t notify the enemy team each time you finish an objective/highlight them on the map. It diminishes the purpose of stealthily completing the objective in the first place.
2. 11:38 Remove the ability to assassinate somebody who has clearly seen you during combat
3. One team can have a HUGE advantage depending on the side of the map they spawn.
4. I'm still not sure if i love or hate the PVP King of the hill death match that occurs in 90% of games at the final objective but I believe the tone of this objective does not match the rest of the game. I don't know how i would fix this.
5. Adding place-able traps and the ability to re-block player routes through the map would add tactility to the gameplay (and help solve above)

Overall I'm rather addicted to this game and really want to see it improve and do well!

This game has the potential to be one of the most creative PvPvE type game invented if they expand and work on the core combat

Next character they are releasing needs to have traps, that would be a game changer at the end.

Gonna be honest that whole, lift the gate, grab the key, drop the gate and leave was hilarious, the drop of the gate doesn't even get the sheriff's attention. that's hilariously sad

This is one of those games I really wish was on game pass. Give it a lot of players and allow me to be sure I can play with my friends.

What would make robin a bit better (since this is his game “hood”) is that the developers would make different types of arrows for him such as electric or poison or flaming based on what perks you have on him

When you pick up the key look above the health bar. It tells you exactly where the vault is.

The fix for the last part of a mission is simple : give the gold you've unlocked to the team who's unlocked it, give just another chunk to the team who finishes the extraction. Basically if you lose, you still get the gold you extracted. I don't understand why there are different "points" of rewards if in the end, the last person to extract makes their team win the whole thing.
Still looks very interesting and mostly well thought out, which is pretty rare for multiplayer games.

Similar to how in a battle Royale you can kill all the other teams but end up losing to a team that was camping (being tactical?) the whole match.

Actually if you do all the winches and the enemy kills you if you do all the work, you get all that bonus gold so that’s a good 600 gold

Kinda wish the game had a mode similar to one of hte splinter cell games (Chaos Theory?) where one side were the defends in first person, defending objectives. Would be neat to have players being the guards, trying to catch out thieves and assassins.

The game says exactally where the vault is in writing above your health bar not at the top of screen

Andrew Willans, game director on Hood, said at launch: "While PvPvE has been a design pillar since the concept phases, we are also planning to expand on our purely PvE focused games modes, and also providing more hardcore options and modes for those that thrive in the confict of PvP battles."

How is assassinating someone who's already distracted by your team mate not realistic?

Wish they wouldn't hold back on the cosmetics. You already know the battle passes are gonna have the dope skins

A good way the game can be solved in the final objective is maybe that they winch slower when the whole team is more than 50 metres away or maybe they have to winch it back a check point then go foward again
