0:31 I will say one thing as an owner of the book and a soulsborne player since Demon’s Souls (and to help anyone thinking of buying this: This is probably THE most official lore book we will probably get. The whole setup of souls games lore is that we only ever get snippets of lore and the rest is put together through extensive playthroughs, research of the game, and interviews with developers. All of this is then pieced together through heavy, but well informed, community speculation and deductive reasoning of what is true and what might be true. FromSoft has never (and probably will never) give us official lore because it defeats what the community has been doing for literally over a decade of these games.

Lokey is definitely one of the biggest lore guys in the community. He not only puts the work in, but supports his work with the in-game lore itself as his sources. He even has the support of many other big names and is referenced by others quite a bit. He might not be 100% correct (probably impossible to be), but he definitely can guarantee good quality through what is available.

If you want something like an official book, this really is the best you will probably get. Plus, the quality of the books and artwork alone are already incredibly well done. I bought the standard edition and couldn’t be happier. It also helps the people who do this work, so feels pretty good supporting Lokey and VaatiVidya, who did the accompanying audiobook.

I bought the same publisher’s SOUL ARTS book and i got the much bigger book (dimensions not pages) and a great slipcover for about $100 and it was well worth it. These books are just 7 x 10 inches and I couldn’t justify the price. They will be offering a Digital version that’ll probably be $20-25 or so and I’ll get it that way. Looks amazing but I ain’t rich

That’s a serious outlay isn’t it even if the content looks extremely well curated. Those illustrations as well as the map are incredible though. I do wonder how much uptake they’ll get even from mega fans of the game.

Many ppl seem disappointed that it only covers DS and that's fair enough, but to me DS is the only game of the trilogy i really care about, so that makes it perfect!

If it was the lore of Dark Souls 1-2 and 3 then I'd consider it more worth the price but for me in the UK £160 for a book on just the first games lore which is already extensively known by the community, I can't justify the price.

Don't call something a lore book when the very first sentence in the foreword is basically stating it's fanfic and speculation. So hate that people already treat this like it's some official thing and eat it up. Altho it explains why are they asking such and outrageous price for it since the publisher knows if something is related to dark souls people gonna buy it.

I love to own this but almost 200$ seems insane. There's barely any souls books around. Kinda disappointed to hear this. Corner the market and insanely raise the price mentality.
