Solve Galaxy S4 storage problem Folder Mount root only - Androidizen

Now if you have Root access to your Galaxy S4 with the help of an app called Folder Mount it's easy to trick Android into thinking your data is still on the S4 internal memory even though it's been easily copied to your SD card.

This one needs Root to function but it will save you loads of internal memory space and stop you having to delete your favorite games or apps to make room for new stuff.

Thanks for this info! It's a God send. I've just gotten the new Hyundai T7s, and even though it's running ICS it puts all your apps, games and even movable apps to the internal memory. And it eats it up like crazy. This has really helped! Thanks heaps. :D

Thanks very much for this video! I am now using this on my Note 2! I did try SD swap, but with that, you can only store pictures to one storage location. Also with SD swap, you can only store downloaded items to one storage location or it cant be read. This works great! Thanks

no idea at this point, it does seem likely the 9505 will be more popular with devs due to US /UK getting the quadcore

I agree with Rene. But I would like to point out that it is extremely frustrating because when you install any app onto your phone it will throw all the files into folders all over the phone. After installing an app and then mounting the main file (which usually is the largest file) to the SD card you wouldn't think this was a big deal until you find out that not all functions of those apps you have installed will work properly. Examples such as: Firefox will not load Addons at start,

updates should be synced to the mounted folder, as far as Android internal is concerned nothing has changed it will look up the internal location and be pointed to the SD card.

BusyBox Installation Fixed the problem!! I thought busybox was already pre-installed with my ROM... :)

Thanks for the video though. It definitely helped with the process :)

That's exactly what i was looking for! i guess that's the only available solution until developers change their mind and start using the external SD card for downloadable content.

Works perfectly, I would recommend the Samsung 64GB microsd as it's the fastest I've seen available, perfect for loading mounted apps and games very quickly.

No. The program is tricking your internal to think the app is still there. To see if its working, check your internal storage by looking under stettings, then storage. Works great for me.

Man, my Folder Mount not want to create more folder automatically! When I create manually, the program gives an "unknown error". Have uninstalled and installed back and the problem persists.

I have FolderMount installed on my tablet but not been using it long enough to tell how good or bad it is yet but looks pretty good so far. Like you I had to pay for the full version, think it was less that £1 so not much.

Link2SD is also a good app its on the Play Store and the free version has a lot more to offer. It must be good because I took an old Alcatel One Touch 990, the internal memory on these phones really do suck. After you turn on the phone after a full reset you have less than 100mb of memory to play with and you just cant install anything on it without it filling up what little memory you've got.

After I'd rooted the phone, I installed Link2SD and deleted a couple of the system apps with it that were obsolete, (take care doing that you could break the phone), but it did give me a little more precious memory. They after I'd partitioned the SD card so that Link2SD could work properly the phone has is born again lol. I've installed a lot more than I ever could without it and gave it a new look with GO Launcher themes. Great little app brink an old phone back to life.

Where are the apps located at? My apps and games aren't in the same sub folder as yours was in the video. Any help please?

What would you do if it still shows the old files on the internal sd card? I know that's how the app actually tricks the phone to work, but now i can't install any other games since they first have to be installed onto the internal sd card, then to the external.

Thanks for making this video, it's really useful, I just have two quick questions:
1. When you go to your task manager storage display, it shows your internal memory as 9.25GB, whereas on mine it was 16GB. Is there a way to change it so it just shows the amount of memory you can actually play around with (like yours does) rather than the full physical amount on the phone (like mine does)?

Thanks for any help!

I download apps then transfer it to my sd card, day later or so when I try to access the apps it says app isn't installed. Will this solve the problem?
