Guys, the Quest still works if you kill boss first. You simply need to go meet him twice, either by reset or by fast traveling/leaving area

I'm pretty sure you have to summon him for the boss fight behind the castle against that lion thing to trigger a different outcome for the quest. Maybe you can also keep Irina alive that way. I will test that in my 2nd playthrough, sadly I found the dude after i killed the boss

my sequence was "talk to irina -> kill boss -> talk to father -> don't deliver letter -> quest doesn't progress, irina's still alive"? At least she's still alive for me
Edit: She died at some point, either after the update or that i progressed far so its probably better to deliver the letter anyways

If Edgar isn't at Castle Morne, try going to "Revenger's Shack".. you might still get invaded and be able to continue the quest lines involved

There is a faster route by just going right from the pumpkin head and up you will end up at the flyer area.

Anyone else running into the bug where he just isn't there?
1. Yes I talked to Irana and told her I would deliver the letter.
2. Yes im 100% sure im in the right place. Ive been double checking every area in the castle for 4 hours and watched multiple guides like this one.
3. Yes I quit and reload the game.

Idk if I triggered it by attempting the boss fight and deciding to continue looking for this guy after i died.

It really sucks I ran past the enemies like you said and while I was talking to him they fallowed me up there and I accidentally hit him trying to kill the enemy and he turned hostile and forced me to kill him even after I let him kill me

I was wondering what I did wrong. I snuck past those things at the fire. Instead of going right, I went left all the way to the boss and ganked it thinking after Edgar would pop up but nope.

He is worth killing for the +8 halberd, useful on my paladin roleplay, almost 300 dmg with holy dmg, for early without wasting matterials thats crazy

Don’t agro the hoard when you first enter the courtyard. You can sneak past all of them if you hug the wall on the right.

Don’t you love it when you kill the boss for the area and realize you can’t finish the quest line 🙂

Edit: decided to kill him since the girl is dead. Died like 5 times but I at least I got his weapon

I never met him I went thru the castle ended up at the boss and killed it then I was jus browsing inventory and remembered the letter and it was supposed to go to someone at castle morne so I checked the map and realized that was the castle I had went thru an never seen anyone but decided to look again and still no one.. then seen the comments that of u kill the boss the quest is lost. They should like have the dude yell at you like right as u enter from coming up the lift or sumthing to let u kno bcuz it sounds like a lot of ppl did exactly as I did.. idk maybe next play through I won’t ruin NPC lives by being a terrible mailman!

Thanks, I’ve been trying to get rid of these key items I have in my inventory because I can’t hear them because I’m always jamming and They always whisper+drinking what you need to do. Anyway I came in 170 switched my class to a mage and I’m running with Tiche. Yeah a level 80 intelligence destroys them with just a Glenstone

I've cleared the whole castle, I've beaten the boss out back.... he is not now nor has he ever been right there for me... I do still have the undelivered letter for him too, but he is a no show.... I've left and then re-cleared the castle two more times so that's three in total and he is never there is this a glitch or something?
