Burma/Myanmar is a beautiful coastal country that resides approx. 100 ethnic groups.

Burmese cuisine encompasses the diverse regional culinary traditions of the neighbouring countries such as China, India, and Thailand. Apparently, every Burmese dish has at least 3 of the 5 tastes of salty, sweet, sour, bitter and umami.

I had the pleasure to speak to Ta the owner, and his staff. They were born in Thailand, but their parents are both Burmese.

Ta has recently taken over this business, and is thinking of focusing on Thai hotpot and BBQ more moving forward. My heart sank when I heard that, but I’m glad he also mentioned that some of the popular traditional Burmese dishes will be here to stay😎!

Thank goodness I have a Burmese friend to guide me what to order!

The Tea Leaves Salad serves like a snack to Burmese. Apparently it tastes best when you serve it with some Jasmine rice! It is slightly bitter, tangy, salty, and contains LOTS of CRRUNCH!

Burmese love having the Claypot Noodle dish during the rainy season, they usually add some pickled radish to make it a bit 🌶️ (we did too!). The broth is light, tomatoey, and just a tiny bit spicy. They are also NOT stingy with the amount of meat balls/sausages they serve. Noods need more chew, but can't fault this dish overall.

The Waitress also recommended me her fave curry dish - Kachin Fish Dish! It's one of the most popular dishes here. The 🐟 was firm, fresh, and filled with appropriate amount of fragrant spices and herbs! Highly recommended!

The Melon Chicken dish apparently is a rural style curry, and lighter than any other curries in Burma. If you’re after a clean, and mildly fragrant dish, give this a try!

It's my first time trying Burmese cuisine, and my overall impression is: healthy, mild, clean, yet flavourful!

𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: friendly staff, hearty & delicious food, well-balanced flavours, unique food items.
