All Sith fear the loss of power. He did not fear the Shadow Collective, but did personally go to Mandalore to deal with Maul and Savage, whom he saw as rival Sith. He also feared the witches of Dathomir, such as the Nightsisters, and their magicks, as well as those unknown forces in the galaxy and beyond.

When Plagueis revealed a fraciton of his force power to Palataine - before dubbing him Sidious. I bet Palpatine was quaking in his boots at that time.

one of my favorite small details in legends is in the Shatterpoint novel, Mace Windu describes seeing shstterpoints in almost every scenario, but in his discussion with Palpatine, he doesn’t see any, which to me shows just how much mastery over the force sidious had, as he either was without weakness (at least in that scenario) or was able to mask even the smallest hint of weakness through the force

The art of war - Don't underestimate any enemy. But according to theory, that's fear. I disagree with theory on this. Treating your enemy is is equals. It's a good way to keep power. The Jedi made this mistake when they took four Jedi against one sith. And when the Jedi ordered fought for a corrupt republic. And when the Jedi fought against droids. The they underestimated their enemy and lost.

What Palpatine should of feared was the gross incompetence of the imperial military. The stupid imperial office that opened the door to the forcefeild generators was what killed Palpatine. He should of better trained them.

Palpatine's greatest weapon was most certainly his intelligence and his ability to utterly control a situation without looking like he was in control. I think by the time of RotJ it had gone to his head a little, and that he was less patient & careful with Luke than he had been with Anakin. Yet never stopped scheming and staying several steps ahead of his opponents until his very last moments when he made the mistake of focusing on his wrath over Luke's defiance.

If Palpatine ever fear someone it's probably Qui-Gon, he was a Jedi so wasn't blinded by the ways of the Jedi code but followed the cosmic force . With such wisdom, perception and knowledge of the ways of the cosmic force he could see things that the Jedi were blind to such as Anakin being the Chosen One. I believe Qui-Gon's was the death was a must for Anakin to fall to the dark side, If he was still alive he would off kept Anakin at arms length and Anakin wouldn't receive mentorship from Palpatine like he did between episode 1-3. Palpatine would obviously try to have Anakin by offering mentorship saying to the Jedi he's not an ordinary boy since Anakin came to the Jedi at such an old age, such persistence would make Qui-Gon curious on why Palpatine was so interested in the Anakin. On such curiosity Qui-Gon wouldn't ignore he would tell the Jedi Council on his concerns on the matter, his words would have more weight than they did since episode 1 since he was right about the Sith returning, the Jedi Council would not make the same mistake again by doubting Qui-Gon's words again. The Jedi would be cautious every time while being around Palpatine and he would sense it. Ultimately the Jedi would find out Palatine was the Dark Lord of the Sith all because of Qui-Gon being still alive after the duel with Maul, so with that being sad that's why I think if Palpatine feared anyone it was Qui-Gon for if he was still alive he would the only Jedi so would have a chance of discovering that he was the Dark Lord of the Sith.

If Palpatine never done any long-term planning then yes, you could say he may have feared Black Sun Syndicate, but since he took everything into consideration decades earlier, this is more of a what if than what was.

I believe in the ROTS novel it mentions palpatine had a fear of heights which factored into Mace getting the upper hand in their saber battle.

I loved the part of Plagueis book where Palpatine told Plagueis “what if we put the clone troopers alongside the Jedi ?”

I always wonder how he played and even created both sides of the clone wars, and always stayed steps ahead to make it all turn out in his favor. I mean this is a very complex set of circumstances going on with so many ppl and moving parts. It could of gone so many ways. How did he always seem to stay in complete control. The only thing I can come up with is that he can to some degree see the future. And it has to be more then sensing Anakin is going to be in danger minutes before he was. He has to be able to see outcomes of complex situations in advance. I just don’t see how else he could of pulled it all off.
