16:00 - The motor that runs the juicer is a split-phase synchronous motor that is directionally agnostic. It determines the rotation by the AC phase when the power is applied. This is exactly how a microwave turntable works too. If the phase is negative, it rotates one way - if it's positive, it goes the other. This reduces wear on the gears by spreading the force applied to both directions, making them last considerably longer.

There is a difference between spill proof and leak proof. Spill proof means that you won't spill if you accidently bump against it and is not leak proof, where it will prevent any liquid from getting out. The little hole is there as if it was not, you would not be able to drink anything as it will cause a vacuum. If you make it a little bigger, you will drink easier.

My wife bought a juicer similar to yours about 40 years ago and it still works like a champ. We love it and if it ever craps out I'd get the one you're reviewing.

The hole is in the top of the lid so that air can entry and the liquid can pour out. You’ll see the same on any lid from a coffee shop

That mug cover had me laughing. Especially since it turns your glass into a sippy cup 😂😂

2:11 Every time someone mentions Folger's I'm reminded of that infamous ad of the brother and sister (and its parody)

For a lot of people, it isn't about strength, it is about the twisting motion of manual juicing.

I have a request. Many of us are trying to minimize our use of plastic in our food (impossible to eliminate all!). Could you do a show that reviews products that have no or minimal plastic in food preparation? Love your show! Thanks!

11:56 The juicer "technique" is A++, exactly my s.o.p.! I've had my mom's old electric juicer (similar to this one) since I was a kid in the 80's, tho I'm pretty sure it was manufactured in the 70's. It still works great, one of the few electric gadgets that has survived so many moves. I hope the one demonstrated here is equally durable (tho I doubt it, I'm afraid "they don't make things now like they used to")

As a kid in S FL in the 70s, we had hundreds of oranges and an electric juicer. It was wonderful. The way to get the edges is to sort of go lopsided around rhe edges. The juicer was much sturdier and if we hadnt lost it, im positive it would still be working.

Seeds in the juice will vary a lot from one bit of fruit to another, that machine seemed to be using pretty open grooves which does make sense since the pulp would clog up a mesh and be harder to clean properly.
Spill proof just means the contents won't slop over the edge if you get bumped while carrying. The small hole allows air to enter the mug so the liquid can flow out more easily.

FYI, James, the second cup was cooler because you poured it into a third mug that was at room temperature - that bled off some of the heat from the mug it was brewed in, which had already bled off some of the heat when the coffee was brewed into it. In all fairness, you should have measured the temperature in the mug it was brewed in before you poured it into the clear mug for visual comparison with the first mug. 😉😎

Good job really testing these products. I have no need for any of them and you proved it. THANKS.

As a coffee "snob", it hurts me to see you using Folders coffee pods, but I do have fond memories growing up with it. It's not bad coffee. It's just a different kind of coffee designed for different priorities.

My little $10 Rival 4 cup, drip coffee maker lasts years and years, always consistent with heat and taste. I can even fit my 16oz mug under the spout! $70 for the that coffee gadget? No way but thanks for the demo, love your channel!

The 70's glass juicer is so beautiful 👍

I have functionally the same juicer for 10 + years now and that thing is a trooper. It changes spin direction to agitate the insides of the fruit a bit better, and you can turn against the spin a bit to speed up the juicing.
The small pieces of seed that fall through are barely noticable when drinking, and sometimes I like to add back some crushed pulp that has accumulated at the siv.
It can also store a lot juice and even has room for water if you wish to dilute it a bit.

To get around the fact that it will miss some edges of the larger fruit, just squeeze it over those missed edges at the end, no need to use 2 hands.

Let's review Abracadabra cleaner. The infomercial is hysterical.

I have a feeling those rubber lids will make a reappearance at the end of the year 😂
