The use of earth observation data has many applications for disaster response and recovery, and ultimately for resilience and mitigation -- particularly when it is independent, consistent, and accurate. In this webinar, a panel of experts from across the emergency management and disaster risk world will discuss the emergence of earth observation technology in the industry and how that has increased the speed and granularity of hazard information flowing to the community. This includes discussions around improved and more targeted response activities, faster and more accurate recovery efforts, better predictive modeling abilities, and innovative disaster risk financing techniques.

As an example, we will cover flood risk and the nature of the hazard, which because of an extreme localization in severity and the fleeting nature of the peril, has historically made it challenging to map impacts in near real time and to coordinate post-event response, recovery, and relief efforts. We will touch on some of the work the session host ICEYE is doing in collaboration with the public and private sector, to use its hazard insights to gain near real time insights and ensure relief and liquidity is available to communities in their time of need.
