My husband used to leave his cat alone for a week when he goes travelling.... I quickly put a stop to that as soon as I came into the picture. Some people just dont get it. Cats are sensitive creatures.

It’s such a huge misconception to think that cats are purely antisocial. All the cats I’ve ever had always came running to the door as soon as they even heard someone was coming home. They like the company, and they like the option to have company.

I feel sorry for her :( she's clearly trying to work in this situation with a demanding job most likely causing her to travel more while simultaneously trying to accommodate her cat. It's just sad for her. I hope she's okay.

Despite his aggressive behaviour, Calvin is a beautiful cat. Especially those eyes. I have so much respect for his owner for keeping him.

As a petsitter, can confirm that cats do much better when they have someone coming over vs just leaving food and going away. I have a client who told me that I was her first petsitter and about how one of her cats normally pees on the sofa when she goes away because he gets really upset so she puts a tarp over it, she was super embarrassed about it. I've been looking after her cats every time she goes away for 2 years, apart from the first time I looked after them (probably because he wasn't expecting someone to come over), he's never peed on the couch. She claims I "cured" him of his problem when in reality it was just separation anxiety.

I have literally been watching Jackson Galaxy for the better part of 10 years. I have always appreciated how he views cats because so many people think they are these distant and cold predators that are incapable of love and feelings

I’m not even a cat person and this makes me sad to see. Animals are just as mentally sensitive as any human

I had a neighbor (single man) who had a cat and he traveled alot. At first he had me feed her and I'd spend about 1 hr a day petting and talking. But at some point he bought one of those big water/feeder things and left NPR radio on. I'm sure she was lonely, I offered to continue feeding but he said no. But she stayed friendly if a little shy. I never thought it was good for the cat, but this show proves how horrible it can be to do this.

What I don't understand is why she didn't look for a solution whenever this first started.

One of the cats I adopted had been left alone for days at a time. I started to ask if i could visit her when her owners were away and she would cling and follow me the whole time I was there. When i left her cries were heartbreaking. So one day i took her home with me, and when her 'owners' came back, i asked if i could keep her. She spent 12 years with me, and never forgot being left for so long. Luckily I never left her alone for more than a few hours. I miss her, but she passed last year.

He’s a thirteen year old cat, he started this behaviour when he was one year old and she’s finally getting help for this poor cat now?? Oml..
