People forget that the phrase actually goes "the customer is always right IN MATTERS OF TASTE". They aren't right all the time but if they're gonna pay you the same to not blend/match that's their prerogative.

I’m 16 and I help my dad on a couple of his carpet fitting jobs here and there and I have definitely learnt a lot since I started all I can say is it’s a very satisfying job and you know a good job when you take a step back and you have that joy

GREAT IDEA FOR GEOMETRIC PATTERN USING ALTERNATE COLOURS AND TEXTURES!! Thanks Carpet guy. My workshop has free dibs on the carpet installer's skip next door but every room pieace has the customary traffic and desk treadwear spots. But we could recombobulate much newer rooms using fused pieces of complimentary colours!!

After being in the carpet business for over 40 years I’ve installed thousands of yards of carpet and have done hundreds and hundreds of repairs. I really enjoy watching you do yours my son too now does what I did. I’m retired.

I mean, it's not like you can force people to do things in the most ideal way possible. You can voice your concerns, but at the end of the day, the client is the ultimate factor in decision -making. Sometimes you may get lucky and get a client where money and time constraints aren't an issue and they give you full reign to do what you have to do to get the best results, but from what I've seen, it's way more common that people are willing to sacrifice quality in some way for the sake of saving time or money. You gotta do what you gotta do

Just did one where the client wanted two rooms with stock carpet replaced with a pattern carpet they had pulled off the living room. Wanted both rooms seamed to the hallway stock carpet, and the carpet was running short so we had to do a seam the length of a room in a 10x11 . You better believed I charged accordingly and took myself a nice little check after struggling for my life 4 hours. Seaming a pattern match that has already been stretched and warped will make you consider picking up hardwood or LVP.😂

One thing I loved was using a Milwaukee stapler and nail less tack strip saved a lot of base boards

Ya for sure. I have a contract right now where I just touch up apartments. They look terrible but hey they pay 🤷‍♂️
