Bay Area commercial Dungeness crab fishing set to begin after delay

After a lengthy delay due to migrating whales, the Bay Area commercial Dungeness crab fishing is set to begin on Sunday.

As a crab Snaring fisherman I hated to see the commercial season start. It becomes very hard to catch any legal size crab. I moved out of state and no longer fish the coast but I still follow it. It has been a very slow season for the sport fisherman!!

The lunar year is Jan/29/2025. Just in time for Dungeness crab! Can't wait! Yippee!

I think they may have already started. All week, fishing boats enter Drakes Bay after Sunset and leave before Sunrise.

The salmon fishing season was closed in 2024 for second year in a row, meanwhile the Bay Area has a record number of sea lions (Pier 39 had 1000 sea lions lounging there!)

That seems like plague proportions of sea lions. We probably can manage with less than plague proportion of sea lions?

Crab season never endend in the Tederlion and in the Mission.
