Ksh.40 million solar-powered fish dryer project to be launched in Migori

Migori County is set to benefit from a solar-powered fish dryer to reduce post-harvest losses of silver cyprinid locally known as omena. Statistics by the Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization indicate that 14% of the silver cyprinid caught annually in Lake Victoria, which spans Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, is wasted due to inadequate preservation methods.
