'Gabriel In The Dreamscape' - Short Film

Director/animator Eric Lerner in Ramat Gan, Israel: "The film's purpose was to introduce Gabriel and showcase some of the many ideas I had for him and his universe. As an introduction, I was hoping to get people excited about the potential of the format, about the story, and to get viewers to care about Gabriel himself. "Writing an interesting, engaging character was definitely a challenge. I had many ideas for the character and story but mostly wanted to make sure I spark curiosity, just giving enough to get people hooked. "Designing a real-life cartoon character was also a big dilemma - how to make the character credible and believable but at the same time completely unbelievable and fantastic/magical. "Creating believable skating animations was fun but really challenging, and for this film, I tried a few new techniques that I've never tried before, so there was a bit of a learning curve. Truly, though, the hardest aspect must have been dedicating the time and putting in the effort, since it was a 100 percent independent project. "It was pretty funny to witness people's reactions to a person filming an empty skate park." Schedule: "The whole production took roughly a year, with an average of a week and a half per shot, including matchmoving, animation, render and composite."
